In this new spy clip the 2011 BMW 1 Series is caught at a fuel station while taking a break from testing duties. The driver catches a glimpse of our spies and gives a threatening look. Then he starts up the engine and swiftly takes off down the street. Our spies are relentless and they take off after the Beemer in pursuit of camouflaged truth.

Very little is uncovered though, including the single tailpipe that in today's times would signal a 120i or less. However, with rumoured three and four-cylinder turbos on the horizon, this cannot be assumed anymore.

Speaking of rumours, a Peugeot source told WCF that the 2011 1er will feature the same 1.6-litre turbo from MINI and Peugeot. It would produce more than 100kW (136hp) in that application. Turbo diesels are an obvious choice to join the lineup.

BMW's EfficientDynamics programme will be fully installed to minimise fuel consumption and improve the company's overall carbon footprint.

The new range of 1 Series should appear in showroom floors in mid-2011, first with the hatchback version followed by other variants like the coupe and the convertible.

I like how he tries to make some sort of getaway but gets stuck in traffic. :-D

As for the engines: well - thats most probably a diesel were looking at right here. To sound fits (almost only the turbo can be heard, which is typical for diesel-beemers) and the single tailpipe does so too... and dispite beeing a "Diesel-hater" Ive got to admit, that the ones from BMW rock... at least the 123d Coupé which I once drove is a blast. Guess they'll also offer that for the next 1er.

It looks just okay to me. But let's see, right? By the way, it was so cool when he got stuck in traffic and those other two bimmers showed uo behind me... they all had 'angry' faces, and it looked as if the tiny 1-series had brought his gang with him, you know? Like, 'who is gonna mess with the little one now, uh?'

The camo job doesn't hide too much. It looks to have most of the proportions of the X1. It is just a downsize of other recent BMW designs. I guess it will take a few more years to purge Banglism from the BMW range.

The engine is fully-developed by BMW but mass-produced by PSA to realise economies of scale.

And Peugeot messes up this good engine with a 5 speed gearbox...

PS: For sure that's a bimmer diesel

Decent RWD. At least not too big. Probably will be a hit and attitudes towards of the 1-series is starting to change I assumed. I like it.
