A quick glance at the article title confirms that this is the fifth instalment in the Grand Bentley video teaser saga. That only one and two episodes were published on WCF is not an oversight on our part at all but a decision taken in light of the fact that videos three and four did not reveal much more than what the first two had. But this one tells more, gives more.

Dirk van Braeckel, Director of Design and Concepts at Bentley Motors, is narrating the clip while sketching some details of the car. He says a number of things like how the brand needed to touch base with previous generation Bentleys while at the same time moving forward with its design for this car. Another point of interest is when Braeckel says his customers also wanted a driver's car, which means handling has probably been improved, something not normally associated with a Bentley of this nature.

Currently called Project Kimberly internally, the Grand Bentley is expected to churn out upwards of 405kW (550hp) from a 6.75-litre V8 engine. Its top speed should tip over the 200mph mark. There is talk of a hybrid and a diesel variant as well as a biofuel version. The latter is highly likely given the fact that the Supersports can already run on biofuel.

The Grand Bentley will make its public debut at the 2009 Concours D'Elegance in Pebble Beach, California, on the 16th of August.

I have just taken a second look at those pictures, and realized that this design can really grow on you, especially after seeing pictures of old Bentleys with similar headlights. After all, that might turn out being one interesting car.

Let's not assume a Biofuel version of this car will follow because the GT Supersports can do it. That car has a modern engine whereas the Grand Bentley's mill is 50 years old. It mau ot be so easy to switch; or possible to put the W12 in this body style.

It is actually quite easy to 'switch' engines to burn biofuel instead of gas. All of brazilian manufacturers have done it, upgrading decades-old engines. Example: the brazilian Astra has a reworked european Opel 2,0 liter engine from the eighties under the hood. That was the only way for every mainstream manufacturer to stay in the market, since the sugarcane alcohol costs almost 50% less than gas at the pump, with similar to 10% worse fuel consumption, better performance and no premium on the actual car retail price, making the 'flexfuel' vehicles (running on 100% gas, 100% biofuel or whatever proportion of both in the tank) account for almost 90% of all the cars sold here today.

Seems new Bentley will be a bad copy of new Jaguar XJ)) with rounded google front-eyes like Mercedes W210

Like I said, I prefer the Rolls Royce Ghost than this.

I would pick ANY Bentley instead of ANY Rolls ANYTIME.

I was really hoping that those headlights on the leaked images will not make it into production..Haritage or not, it doesn't fit the car at all, and somehow takes away from its presence.

Yawn... show me this car when I'm 80 years old and it might spark interest.

This could be really nice. It makes me wish that I was tall enough to be an actor in the National Basketball Association. Then I'd have one for sure.

I don't think this Bentley will be too revolutionary...

but I would buy one anyway without hesitation..
