2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class wagon spy photo in Dubai

Dubai is rapidly becoming an ideal testing ground for manufacturers looking to evaluate the performance of their cars in hot conditions. Over recent weeks temperatures in the rich Gulf state have hovered around the 40 degree Celsius mark. Add to that its long flat stretches of road and its proximity to Europe's top engineering centre and you have an exemplary test bed.

WCF reader Adbulla snapped these shots of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate in Dubai. Though still hidden under the black stuff, it is virtually uncovered here. Normally this would hint at an imminent official unveiling but reports state the big E is scheduled to be unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Incidentally the E-Class convertible was meant to star at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show but has now been moved to the same Geneva Show because of tough economic times.

Powerplants destined to appear in the wagon range include current petrol and turbo diesel four cylinders and V6s. With the demise of an AMG variant for the E-Class Coupe there is no clarity as to whether the Estate will suffer the same fate or not. If it does don't expect to see the 386kW (525hp) V8 in there as well.

Thanks to Ahmed for sending the photo of the rear.

it's called a hearse btw. and I would think that hearses a derived from the body of an estate. not the other way round.

It's becoming normal to give the wagon the same rearlights as the sedan

"Dubai is rapidly becoming an ideal testing ground..." Well, yeah, if you want your "secret" prototype to be caught on camera. A touristic destination, with millions of tourists and their, uh, CAMERAS. Just perfect.

=( It looks like it is going to get the sedans rear lights, I would rathter have a 5 Series Touring if it does.

Stretch C-Class, give it front and rear lights from E-Class, and there you have! I don't need any spy photos to know what it'll look like.

why don't u just take the e-class and do the same to it? saves time doesn't it?

Yeah, assuming that stretching a limo results in a station wagon.

I'm glad to see that Mercedes has not succumbed to pressure and that the estate car has not been replaced by mutant bodystyles as seen over at BMW.

I think MB is in danger of falling into the "one sausage, three lengths" styling problem BMW had. What works on the S class, can look cluttered on the C class. In the case of the E class, they've added additional busyness around the rear fenders. I don't think it helps the appearance of the car.

So the next generation E class will be out when, 2016? I hope MB can find their way back to clean elegant styling. They must have a very loyal following for the E class. It's hard for me to regard this series as attractive.
