New 2010 Jaguar XJ on the streets of London [video]

This and two other videos were sent to us by Jaguar. They show examples of the new XJ on a public street after they left the Saatchi Gallery this past Friday. That was the day after being unveiled in front of dignitaries, business people and celebrities like Jay Leno and Elle McPherson.

The video clips are of watchable quality but they were clearly not shot by a professional team nor should they being used in proper marketing material. For instance there is a fair bit of shaking on the part of the camera operator. The other point of interest is the seemingly mixed reaction to the cars from the "man on the street". Some people just walk past it without so much as a glance while others take a look. One man in a suit even approaches while the cars are stationary at the traffic light, but has to back off at the last minute as they start moving again.

Nevertheless the beautiful cat looks well poised to sell in good numbers if priced correctly. It seems Jaguar finally has an XJ fit enough to take the fight to the ruling Germans, at least from its interior and exterior looks, as well as its lineup of firepower.

The last gen XF had a special aura, this one it's just another big luxury sedan. Bleah.

I agree with Renegade, the last gen XJ had something special about it, this is just ugly, horrible and bleah. I would way rather have an S Class, 7 Series or LS

I think the previous XJ did have something special about it. The problem is that they were not attracting new customers with it. Only a small few really like the car like myself. I like the new one as well! However I think they could have used some styling cues from the previous model to really set it apart from the competition. That's just me but hey everyone has their own opinion.

the front somehow looks like a truck: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/9588/truckg.jpg

and the design of the tailights and trunk is still a no no imho.

Great looking car, if you just see it's front end and side profile... But that rear! Oh my God, that's awfull!!! It looks like a chinese car... And that's no good at all... For me, I just wanted an XF with this XJ's front, wich is absolutely gorgeous!

the old XJ exudes a sense of elegance.. this.. is just like a lexus.. luxury ride without the elegance

The Front end looks gorgeous, the back looks better in real life environment than in pictures

I hope TATA see what they do to the car.... the rear is not elegant and the interior looks chip... don't have nothing like the older our the new jaguars... it's not bad at all... but i preferer the xj older interior end rear... lost the elegance of the car...

The so glorified X350 looks like an old atrophied house cat compared to this. The taste of all you bashers must be stucked in the last century. And in this case please be consequent and stop using computers, because a typewriter is much stylisher than this dull box made in asia… *ironic*

Its sad how jaguar has ditched it's characteristic (albeit slightly old) design, JUST to make it look like the XF,in hope of riding along with its success.

Nonetheless, its similar to a bimbo, pretty with no soul and character

The front end styling of the headlights is what they should have done with the XF - hopefully they'll fix the XF with mid-model changes. The rear of the XJ is quirky and needs rework, but I hope that the fit and finish have come up a level to compete with other lux brands. I may consider a Jag over my current 5 series wagon as my next purchase.
