It is not a Jaguar.

The interior is nice, much better than the current model. BUT too many damn baby blue lights everywhere, even the vents are lit, like cmon do u really need the vents lit? I have never had a car with lit vents, and i never lost the vent holes, easy to find the hole where air is blowing at you from. Overkill imo.

Overall the interior does look nice. The steering wheel looks like the one that can be found in some Audi models.

i would not mind it if it wernt for those blacked out c pillars... the make the whole thing look very strange! i think id buy one after the model mid life facelift in about 3 years time!

It takes about 2.5 years to design and get a car approved. Tata only took over in 2008 and therefore had nothing to do with the design of the new XJ.

I wasn't speaking "design". I'm talking component suppliers. If you pay close attention, you'll notice switchgear shared with the updated Range Rovers. I'm very aware of pre-production life-cycles, that's why I wonder what it was "supposed" to be like. You know, back when Ford had control.

Benz man- No sense taking a poke at Tata. This vehicle was ready to roll 18 months ago. Change is good for Jaguar. People that like the styling of the "old XJ" don't necessarily buy it. This car will be a home run for Jaguar.

Originally, Tata made an arrangement with Ford Motor Company to continue using "current" suppliers for Jag and LR models for about 12 months in exchange for payments back to Ford. Like any wise company, Tata has quickly changed suppliers for the updated LR's and the quality hit is obviously apparent to anyone who studies this. Big, hard, high gloss plastic buttons with questionable ergonomic placement and poor haptic feedback. Same for the new LR's "digital instruments" (which the XJ shares). I'm sure Tata had to make a few last minute changes in supplier bases to bring this XJ more in line with its LR fleet. These are obviously not materials that would have been chosen for the Premier Auto Group (remember that?), just look at the quality of new Lincolns. More than likely, those materials families would have been used here. I'm not hating on Tata: wise business decision, poor automotive decision.

I agree with your comments about the LEDs, it is ridiculous. Also too the chrome handles etc that will invariably be plastic with chrome paint are tacky... I guess they need to target "gangstas" too. What is amusing if I am seeing things right, Jaguar seem to be defeating themselves with all this bling by having normal rubber brake / accelerator pedals.
