New Grand Bentley leaked factory images

Bentley's follow-up to the Arnage may be called the Grand Bentley, and it will likely be offered in only one wheelbase, with no stretch available for order.  CAR Magazine is reporting that by cutting out the stretch wheelbase, Bentley will be able to produce more vehicles at a reduced cost.  Although the limo is not scheduled to be revealed until later this summer, someone with access to Bentley's Crewe, UK, headquarters snapped a few shots of the vehicle, and leaked them to CAR Magazine.  Full information, and the grainy, mobile phone camera images, popped up on the magazine's website over the last few days.

The car, codenamed Project Kimberley, keeps a very distinct, Bentley look at the bold front-end, and should have the new generation of the often used 6.75-liter V8 flagship engine.  This new model should produce upwards of 550 horsepower, and a maximum 800 ft-lb of torque.  An Audi four-wheel drive unit could also be installed, as it is on the Continental.  There is some speculation of both diesel and hybrid variants eventually getting the greenlight, while a biofuel model may be immediately available.  Top speed could be about 200 mph.

Similar to the Continental, the car keeps a fairly squared grille with the continued use of round headlights.  Unlike the Continental, the new vehicle's lamps are offset from each other, with each light circled by LEDs.  The grille is designed in a lighter color, and there also appears to be space for fog lamps in the mesh that sits under the front bumper.

As CAR points out, we can not see the car's mascot in these photos, despite previously-released teaser images clearly showing the statue.  The magazine says that "the rear door handles will be hidden and the bootline arcs downwards with a decidedly retro flourish."

Look for the latest Bentley to have a starting pricetag of around £220,000 for the base model.  Bentley was expected to release the car at the 2009 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, with domestic sales beginning soon after.

This is the best way I can say this, VW have completely f*** Bentley up.

This car look even worse than the Continental

quite like it, very bespoke.. more of a baby bugatti four door saloon but lack the flair character or imposing of a rolls. curious to know how the dash might look like

Crikey! That front end looks like a frog crossed with a spider. The rest of the car looks okay...from what is visible. Didn't Toyota build a Corolla with lights that were offset in a similar manner?

This looks, ummmmmmmm, 'interesting'. I just appreciate the fact that this is just a prototype and not the real thing. The Continental Flying Spur isn't the best looking Bentley around, so let's just hope that this new 'Grand Bentley' doesn't look the same. This one deserves to look the greatest.

Looks okay...!

Have to really see in in full, undisguised and wearing all its make-up to make a comment.

Not attractive. Nowhere near the coherence of the Arnage, even though that was based on an aged Rolls-Royce design.

Exactly what I thought seeing those headlamps. "Chinese knockoff Bentley? Oh..."

Although it appears to be a very traditional evolution, but somehow the lower grille and headlights seem out of place. Front bumper being flush is a great touch. I would need to see specs, is it based on the current platform? It also looks wider but still very long.

The old front is much better, these people who work at alfa and bentley don't have much respect for their company, otherwise they didn't put this on internet

that second, smaller light is absolutely disgusting. looks like something bristol would make or something american. completely out of character for the marque. a single headlight would have been better.

rolls royce 2 : bentley 1.

Which platform will Bentley use for this car? Still the Phaeton-platform as for the Continental or the all new alu-platform from the A8-successor???

Reminds me of the old Custom Cloud that made a 70s Chevrolet Monte Carlo look vaguely like a Rolls-Royce.

Wow, I have just one word to describe this: Pathetic! In this bad economy, it's good to know that Bentley is still hiring; well, at least if you've had previous work experience at Hyundai, Geely, or Chery because that's what it looks like. What is wrong with automotive designers these days? They just don't get it! It boggles my mind how this crap gets approved for production, or even the draft board.

as some1 said its really too early to say anythng abt the car...most ppl comment on the front end....but to me its the backlights that need to be taken handle of...they look similar to the fiat 500 !! i mean the styling of it is ok..but the colors of the light look dull....i really hope they work on that car more...and keep that new grill the same as this 1 !!

I Can't Remember, But A Few Petrol Heads On Here Will. I Think It Was In The Last Series Of Top Gear. James May Is In Japan And Takes Two Large Sumo's To There Fight. It Was In A Japanese Imitation Of A Rolls Royce / Bentley. That Cars Front End Looks So Similar To This New Bentley. May Be VW Is Now Looking To Japs For Inspiration. :-)
