Hennessey Performance Engineering has unveiled their new Z700 Limited Edition which is based on the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Designed to be the ultimate Corvette, Hennessey equips the Z700 with an upgraded supercharger, exhaust, and air induction system. These modest modifications allow the ZR1's LS9 engine to create 705 hp and 717 lb-ft of torque, instead of the standard car's 638 hp and 604 lb-ft of torque. This healthy performance boost is backed up by lightweight carbon fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, a carbon fiber front splitter, canards, and a rear spoiler. The net result of all these changes is an impressive 0-60 mph time of 2.9 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 10.6 seconds.

Hennessey also decided to address the ZR1's biggest weakness, the interior. In order to spruce up the Vette's dull cabin, the company adds lightweight carbon fiber seats, and an Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the Z700 is the options list. The typical custom interior and exterior colors choices are there, but so are two extreme performance packages. The Z750 package boasts 755 bhp while the Z1000 package features 1,000 bhp thanks to the addition of twin turbochargers.

Only 24 Z700s will be built for 2010 and each one comes with a full day of performance driving instruction at Hennessey's Lonestar Motorsports Park.

Hennessey Throws Hat into the "Ring"

  • Announces Limited Edition 705 hp Z700
  • Nürburgring-Tested Track Upgrade for the 2010 Corvette ZR1

SEALY, TX - The world's fastest and most powerful production Corvette, the 638 bhp ZR1 has become the pinnacle of American sports cars. For most ZR1 owners, having a car capable of Nürburgring times of 7:26 is more than enough performance to satisfy their need for speed. However, for the select few who subscribe to the mantra of "too much horsepower is never enough", Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) has something special in store for them in 2010. HPE is happy to introduce the company's 705 bhp Z700 upgrade package for the 2010 ZR1.

Porsche 911 owners wanting the uber Porsche can order the GT3 RS. Dodge Viper enthusiasts wanting the ultimate road race Viper have the ACR. Now ZR1 owners can opt for the Hennessey Z700 upgrade for their Corvettes.

Hennessey's Z700 performance package starts by upgrading the LS9's supercharger, exhaust and air induction systems, which is then dyno tuned to 705 bhp. But this is just the beginning. Additional upgrades include lightweight carbon fiber wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, which reduces rotating weight by nearly 60 lbs. Hennessey's Z-Aero TM carbon fiber front splitter, canards and rear spoiler also add over 300 lbs of downforce, helping plant the added power to the road or track. Rounding out the Z700 upgrade package is a revised interior with lightweight carbon fiber seats, Alcantara steering wheel and shift knob.

HPE will be throwing its hat into the Ring - literally - with plans to begin testing the Z700 at the famed Nürburgring in Germany later in 2009. The company plans to build just 24 of these limited-edition Corvette ZR1's for the 2010 model year. Each customer also gets a full day of performance driving instruction in his or her new Z700 at Hennessey's own private test track, Lonestar Motorsports Park. Lonestar, which is located next to the company's facility, is located just west of Houston, Texas and has a full quarter-mile dragstrip as well as the addition of a 1.1-mile road course which will soon be under construction.

The article says its a 2010? I didn't know it was available yet? Anyways if it is a 2010 along with the new launch control and PTM it should be amazing around a track, by the way Hennessy is taking it to the Nurburgring for a test run according to Motor Trend, should be interesting what kind of results they get.

Nice, but why those square tail pipes. Pipes should be round, not square. Also a round tail pipe has a better flow.

Lol it's just the exhaust tips that are square and they are purely there for show. If anybody ever tells you that any type of exhaust tip adds 5hp you can laugh in their face.

i think the interior can be more improved than just seats steering and a shift knob.

It's a good news to hear they have that kind of nice package for the ZR1, but not any for a Z06?!!!! I want my Z06 to be upgraded too!!!!! The ZR1 is kinda too expensive but worth it, still sticking with the Z06!!!!
