Ferrari F450 full body prototype spied for first time / SB-Medien

These are the very first spy pictures of the upcoming Ferrari F450 prototype testing on the road and track. The F450 replaces the current F430. Previously spies have only been able to snap test mules using an F430 body but this time it is the car itself hiding underneath all the black garments.

Some of the first details to catch the eye are the LED daytime running lights which appear to be flowing upwards into the fenders as headlight extensions. They will prove to be a provocative talking point if they make it into production.

At the rear we can see three tailpipes in a horizontal formation sticking out. Because they are not exactly fitted properly they may not be the final layout. What is likely to stay are the two round rear lights sitting almost on the car's shoulder. Overall the F450 seems to be lower and shorter than before. Spy photographers reported that during in town driving the engine sounded very quiet but when the throttle was tickled it blurted out the familiar Ferrari roar.

The F450 will have a V8 engine worth over 500hp (368kW) and is likely to be shown for the first time at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show.

I'm sure the tailpipes will be on the sides, not in the center. I hope the LED's on the front and the rear lights will be revised.

The thing I hate the most is the single taillight design. It probably won't have a double taillight design. I guess they're trying to take off of the ugly rear end of the California. I really hope that that isn't official.

Wierd proportions..even though under heavy camo you can see the shape it will have...and the shape of the front lights are just as bad as the fact that it'll have LEDs.Taken by the california's design, which i already hate, this car is gonna be a mess.

I hope it's lighter than the F430 by a long shot, and that it's appearance isn't cringe-worthy.

WOW, now that's what I called an alien car with bump roof. About the front lights, those are from california but the rest looks very weird & it doesn't look like the next gen, it looks like a facelift.

it looks me like a baby enzo. its as ugly as the current slk where mercedes tried to squeeze the design of the slr into a middle class roadster.

i was really hoping that they would not give it the california style front headlamps, but my hopes have been messed up, ever since the 355, 550 & the f50, i ain't liked ferrari's design language, in 20 years don't think we'll look at a f430 the way we look at 355, but what i think don't matter because when it comes out people gonna be excited just because its a ferrari, not a beautiful ferrari but just a ferrari

I GUESS PAGANI IS THE ONLY ITALIAN MANUFACTURER WHOSE STILL GOT A PASSION FOR BEAUTY

i've never heard anyone say pagani's are ugly,if i was to have a choice between the zonda and the enzo, i'd pick the zonda anyday, but if you said the f40 or the f50 it would be a different story

Pagani's pure functionality in design is a thing of beauty to some people's eye...

actually Zonda is famous for it's beauty. it looks outrageous from the outside , from the inside and it has the sound to match it's looks. it's the perfect hypercar.

Is this still gonna be based on the 360 platform?

I really like this, as much as LED's can be frowned upon I think they add depth to the grill and headlights.

the three exust pipes is an oldschool design found on the f40 wich had turbocharging and they did mention this one is gonna be turboed

Aesthetics
July 7, 2009 4:54 AM
no, no turbocharger. but the era after the F450 will be turbocharged

tacky day time driving lights better suited for a The Fast And The Furious fan club. the wheel seems a definite. other than those led's, this car should be blindingly awesome, lower, more power than the supercar it replaces

i suspect the three exhaust tip has a valve that uses two exhaust when under light throttle/Rpm and the third exhaust opens up under heavy throttle/Rpm or vice versa, one exhaust light, and two for power....maybe

it shapes a little like a ferrari enzo

Looks like I'm not the only one that noticed some resemblance to the Enzo. Not much a fan of the headlights. but then again we haven't seen the final product yet.

like them or not, LED daytime running lights are here to stay.

by looking at these great spy pictures I could say that some elements are obvious. The headlights: I think that they are close to the ones on the production model (let's remember the other spy shots, with that prototype on the factory). The taillights: I think there will be single taillights, just like on the California and 599. The top: I think it will have a similar shape to the Enzo Ferrari. Maybe, we'll see the three exhaust pipes, but I don't think so. And last, but not least: it has nothing to do with Pagani!

i bet it will have some sexy lines, but the only car that deserves LED's is the R8. They gotta go....

well the led's n the exhaust pipes suck.....but it resembles a zonda n that is cool..but looks wierd from certain angles. zonda is no doubt a true hypercar... i think the legendary ferrari is gone..sorry
