Some new spy shots have emerged, featuring the 2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe Cabrio with its top down.  Previous sets of spy shots have shown the cabrio with a soft top, riding alongside the E-Class Estate.  This is the first time the car has been seen with its top retracted.

With the top down, we can see the test car's unique air deflector.  Taking the shape of a mini-spoiler over the windscreen, the item is sure to cause a stir amongst Mercedes fans.  Should the piece stay on the final version of the car, it will likely polarize those interested in the E-class into two groups: one that likes the function, and one that hates the look.

Once slated for a 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show debut, the E-Class Coupe Cabrio has been rumored to be delayed because of the financial crisis.  Conflicting reports say the car could be shown on-schedule in Germany, or at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show as a 2011 model year vehicle.  Mercedes may show the E-Class wagon later in 2010 as a 2012 edition.

what happen to the hard top convertibles that were running around before the soft tops came along, seems like they were just a test with weight and all of the stuff that goes with it being a Coupe convertible?

The blade will find its way into other manufacturers very soon. It certainly doesn't look good, but it should work like wind deflectors on cars with sunroofs.

I think the Convertible looks a lot better than the Coupe. And that blade, well I believe it serves its function but then again, why couldn´t they just design the windshield so it deflects as much wind as that blade. It does look completely out of place.

Lame duck, very predictable design, but should keep faithful Benzers in its fold.

Rich housewives and old men in suburban America will love this car. Plus it will probably drive smoother and more solid than any other convertible available.

How do they know is a Mercedes in the first place? The badges are covered with black tape! (sarcasm) ...as if they needed to comouflage it from us.

I like it very much - but the spoiler is god-awful. BTW how hard it is to make a hard-top for four-seater cabrio? Anyone??? Is it just too expensive? Heavy?
