A publication in the Czech Republic is running this photo of an alleged Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Spider mule during testing. The car had been rumored to exist for years, with some linking the rumors to the Ferrari California unveiling in Paris last year.
It is very clear that -if this is a mule- it is using a modified California body. Rear fenders appear to be altered, and the boot lid looks to no longer fit. There is now a single air outlet at the front, instead of the "gilled" look seen on the California. The Czech outlet also suggests that, because of a different design for the interior, the temporary roof has a "hump."
The Czech news outlet identifies the 2010 Paris Motor Show as the earliest possible introduction for the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Spider.
While the story is not totally convincing, especially because of the photo's unusual cropping, it does give some reason to speculate again. If this is the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Spider, we want to know where it was caught on camera, and we definitely need to see more pics. After all, with all the rumors swirling about a Ferrari hybrid concept coming to the LA Motor Show, perhaps this is just a test mule for a new platform.
