With the German launch of the Porsche Panamera just weeks away, Zuffenhausen marketing gurus are preparing to woo those customers who have not signed up already. Using this promotional video as one of its tools Porsche aims to show buyers some of the car's capabilities.

The clip begins with four adults in suits going into the Panamera simultaneously through all four doors. This highlights the fact that the car can swallow four grown people. Then a quick drive around town is followed by one of the passengers unloading luggage from the boot. Space is another selling point. Later a few technical aspects are highlighted, such as the braking ability, the 7-speed PDK gearbox, rear LED lights and the suspension system.

Although the Panamera is a Porsche from the ground up, none of the shots in the video are taken at a race track, nor is the car shown to be speeding excessively in any way. Moral of the story? Porsche has made a comfortable family luxury car that can also perform to Porsche expectations.

The Panamera will be launching with, among others, a 4.8-litre V8 Panamera S making 298kW and a Turbo version featuring 373kW and 700Nm of torque. In the UK prices will start at £72,266 for a baseline Panamera S going up to £95,298 for the Turbo.

It's slowly growing on me. I'll have to wait to see it in person before making the final call.

Need to see it in person to make a final judgment but so far not so good. I personally hate the Cayenne.

At first when the photos were released I was disappointed, I thought the exterior was ugly, the interior's fantastic. But as I've looked at all the pictures and videos they've put out the past weeks, it’s really grown on me I Love it and I think in person it will be immediately recognized as a Porsche with a great smooth wide stance. If you read this new review you'll see they were pleasantly surprised by the car in person,

besides the thing is wicked fast I'm sold now i just need to raise $140000

The front of the car is really not that bad, its the back which just makes the whole thing weird and somewhat uneven.

I allways hated this car, it's ugly... Even though, I still have to ask one thing! Being a Porsche, and being a coupé (ok, four-door coupé...), why doesn't it have frameless doors? This Panamera was a huge design mistake by Porsche, I think, but the frameless doors are something they shouldn't have forgotten...

it's a sedan, not a coupe. frameless doors are impractical and not good at soundproofing.

I think it looks great. With so many cars that look alike you know this is a Porsche and it really can sit 4 adults. Porsche makes reliable race cars and at competitive prices. I have a lamborghini gallardo, aston martin DB 9 and a Maserati Gran Turismo that offer exclusivity but that is about it.

I saw a few of them yesterday in the Munich airport in the area between the two terminals. It is not ugly but I wouldn't call it very beautiful either. It is however big and impressive. One of them was moving very slowly towards exit and the sound was charming.

i think there is no doubt, that this car is THE Performance sedan and benchmark for all its competitors and in reality even the back doesn`t look disturbing as long as u aren`t a midget. it isn´t more hideous than a Cayenne and the (7year old) Cayenne still sells pretty good.

how could the article completely omit the demonstration of start/stop technology to do with the cars capabilities, and mention LED's tailights instead?? surely that would be something porsche would want to be harping on about...? they have to try and sell this awkward looking thing somehow... haha (DW i know it will sell because of the badge, no need to reply to tell me this!) proportionately i think Porsche needed to take a leaf out of Astons book! but i do like that spoiler! haha in all, this car, even with all the money they are throwing at promotional material to try make it look good, in my humble opinion still looks like shiteee!

It just keeps getting better and better... How this car is introduced step by step is well done. The Rapide on the other hand was showed even before the first pictures of the Panamera and since then I don't see a lot of things that make it more than a skindeep beautiful car. I want more, I want a Panamera. And I don't think it's butt-ugly by the way, on the contrary.

This car will cost you exactly the same of a Quattroporte GTS. Are you serious? The Panamera isn't bad- great for middle aged couples like the one in the video- but no way I'd buy it. Quattroporte all the way.

i think as the video portrays, this car is aimed at the 50 year old + who owned possibly the first 911's.

as well, i think it is a fail.

even the Cayenne did not have to be labelled a " P O R S C H E " at the rear end.

It really is looking much better as time goes on. The car is going to be a tremendous success because there really is nothing like it. As always with Porsche it is function over form. That kind of effort is always rewarded in the long run when people drive the car. I really don't understand all the bashing of this car. Obviously it is not for everyone, but at over $100k it is not meant for everyone. I would take this car over a M/B or a BMW in the same price range any day.
