To those of you wanting to own your own McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail, now is your chance.  Only 28 of the 100 McLaren F1 cars were built for racing in either the FIA GT series or the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  Of those 28, only ten were stretched into the 1997-spec "Long Tail" model seen here.

One of those ten has hit the market in Japan.  Formerly owned by Gulf Team Davidoff, the F1 GTR with chassis number 28R was raced in the 1997 FIA GT Championship series.  The car's best races included sixth place finishes in both Suzuka and Laguna Seca, with three other top ten finishes during that season.  It served as a mid-season replacement for car #25R, which caught fire during the '97 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Despite an elongated nose, larger tale, and bigger rear wing, the car shaved 75kg off the 1996 model weight, to bring the total to 915kg.  Powered by a 900 horsepower V12 from BMW Motorsports, the car is still wearing its full Gulf Livery.  It is believed to be on sale now at the Bingo Sports dealership of Tokyo and Nagoya, Japan.

This should be atleast 3mil. It's 10 years and the McLaren F1 is still the sexiest car ever.

$3mil? you are kiddint me arent you? it may be rare but it's only had 4 top ten placings. anyone who pays $3mil has to have serious development issues if they aren't locked up.

this will EASILY sell north of $3mil my friend. There are such things as car collectors with serious cash that you couldn't wrap your mind around it. People will buy this car for 3mil, and in 5 years sell it for 6mil. You've just doubled your investment in 5 years. Short of cocaine, very few investments in the world will return you 100% in 5 years.

do you realise how much you have undermined yourself with that rediculous comment. atleast ask if you dont get it - dont point out they got "development issues", coz from where im sitting, theyre not the one with issues!

Looks Like an R8 ? Thats just silly ! The R8 might look like this (to you) The Audi could only hope to reach the ledgendary status of this awesome Machine ! If i had enough Money (Which i certainly do not)i would almost pay anything they wanted for it .

You're new here, I guess. "It looks like an R8" is a sorta inside joke among the WCF community. Just thought you should know.

lol, cause it uses BMW V12 engine as all F1 versions used.

Regarding the Audi comparison, quite the contrary. McLaren could only hope to reach the legendary status of Audi, and the Auto Union. With their rally history and TOTAL Domination of Endurance racing for the past decade. I mean I guess McLaren has some presence in F1 but that hasn't affected the consumer market at all.

Dude, you suck. The McLaren F1 is still the fastest naturally aspirated car in the world and it was unveiled in like 1992 (1993? Well either way...) Anyway, as brilliant as Audi may be, they will never create anything like the F1, which was (and still is, in the opinion of most people who know anything about cars) the greatest car ever.
