Audi R8 rival, read the article, or at least the title.

This is so far from BMW's M designs and resembles too much of the ugly hunch back , rat face R8. BMW's design in this class will probably resemble those of Aston rather than Audi.

This looks pretty good, but I doubt that it will ever see the day light.

Nice design, really like the rear end and the roof. I wonder if BMW will answer the call and produce something to compete against the R8

that looks pretty hot and it is a bad sign for BMW that some artists actually make much better looking BMW cars than BMW itself.

It's not a turbocharged SUV, so M won't be going anywhere near it.

this approach is totally flawed. at least draw something based on a BMW model, not on an Audi . a new M1 would be a good start. total waste of time.

the point of this artist designs is to draw something that people can say waw... but in realety the concepts of the car are often wrong and they dont show the brand at all

Seems to be completely different from any current BMW design language - however it is "inspired by what's called in surfing terms 'a Barrel or Tube'. It's where the wave is hollow when it breaks." This is true genius and it is just a matter of months before Mr. Noah becomes design chief. I see this drawing as a power play to reach the highest echelons of BMW design. I am not fooled. I think. bmw really dont need to get back at the r8. the m3 beats the r8 v8 on all grounds and the m5/m6 do the same with the r8 v10. although itl be great to see a new m1. these designs are a joke. i'd much rather prefer a bangle/hooydonk design.

In what way does the M3 beat out the 4.2 R8? Ugliness?

umm around 1/2 the price for the same power, head on drag race winner (proof avaiable ), everyday practicality, economical in comparison, much better drive, 2 extra seats and so on. you must also have a lazy eye to call the m3 ugly. if at all bmw make an m1 itl be in a diff class altogether. i have nothing against the r8 but the bimmers are better cars. period

Totally agreed, catchmyshadow... BMW has to produce something to compete against the R8... It will be very interesting...

That is beautiful! I do see some of the M1 in the rear view. I actually don't care what it looks like, but a BMW "supercar" is long overdue.

Well put, probably the only sensible comment here, BMW should just build this type of car, perhaps sub R8 money so we can at least have a lash.

they should build this like right now, damn BMW has soo much potential to put into an R8 rival, what are they waiting for is beyond me.

Maybe if they didn't have lots full of cars in so many ports, a failing F1 team and a destroyed economy to deal with... It's hugely unrealistic to expect them to crank something like this out now. Anyone remember the M1 Hommage? Right.

Aussie Aussie Aussie.... What a great looking design. Much Much better than The M1 "Hommage" that came out last year. That retro abomination should be killed off before birth and BMW should take a close look at this stunning futuristic design. Bravo !

Just a R8 with a BMW grill stuck on. No imagination; neither styling ideas that take BMW forward or nods to a great past. I guess it's what comes of having a job where your role of styling involves putting a Holden grill on Daewoos.

Harsh and accurate. Pathetic hackery, don't quit your day job "3D automotive artist". No wonder you wanted anonymity, I wouldn't want to be associated with that abortion either.

as far as i see it, besides from Bristol411s3, i will be the only one that will say, in clear, pure english: this sucks, it is childish, it isn't original..... and of course, it is not a bmw. i really hope bmw wont even looks at this rendering. nonetheless....very well put bristol, you couldnt have xplained it better.

Why isn't this guy working at BMW?! It's the best BMW "concept" to come out in years, and it wasn't even conceptualized by BMW...
