best news ive herd all week so far. im glad that saab is going to be taken over by Koenigsegg. its good to see native car brands to back to their home country. and also i was disapointed with (no offence) that american quality that was put into saabs. lets see how this will turn out! as for the Quant, id really like to see that 20 minute recharge 500 Km rage vehicles technology put into further and better cars if not completely improved. i mean if they braught the re-charge time of an electric car down to lets say 2 - 3 minutes then im sure car companys wouldnt hesitate to make more electric cars and it would be easyer to re-charge them from some sort of electric petrol station.

Don't expect too much from battery charging times... it will never get as fast as filling a tank with petrol ; we must deal with it

Hey, it's great news for everybody! Go-Go Koenigsegg! (will Saab's slogan start to be 'Saab: Built by Koenigsegg'?) ;-D Obrigado

I suggest that Saab will be dead in about 2-3 years. Together with Koenigsegg. I don´t see a new model line-up to ensure a production up-scale by a factor of 7 ! Even if they manage to produce 150.000 cars a year this is still insufficient to stay in this competitive market. Think about the investments to develop future drivetrains, platforms etc. Think about the wholesale prices concerning subcontractors...

Uhh... They ARE continuing to use GM platforms/ components, if you read the article... So I hardly see why they would "die" in 2-3 years. Certainly, developing all platforms/ components themselves would be uneconomical, but there is no reason they couldn't continue their relation with GM, or strike up a new one with BMW/ Peugeot/ Ford/ Toyota/ etc. The BIG manufacturers are doing this all the time between THEMSELVES - So it's not like KoenigSaab (?) would have a hard time finding larger manufacturers willing to share platforms/components.

But just wait until Americans start trying to pronounce Koenigsegg. Im glad this deal is happening and I'm so glad Saab wasn't sold off to a man named Tata.

"What is uncertain is if these future plans include bringing the Saab Quant electric concept closer towards production." isn't it the koenigsegg quant?

I fear for the worst. This is a BIG move by Koenigsegg; arguably too big a move. I share the same view that the whole lot will go feet up in 2 - 3 years, just like MG Rover did once it lost the support of a major manufacturer with which to share manufacturing and overhead costs. I hope to be proved wrong of course...

I wonder if GM will continue to share parts with Saab for the time being in order to alleviate some of the pain from Koenigsegg. It would be good business for both companies. GM gets paid for parts, Saab gets a lower cost of designing and building cars. Time will tell I guess.

I am really glad for SAAB, and more than that .. this brand has a name in USA, and Koenigsegg can use that in it's own advantage to keep exporting the car over there, but made better. Well done K, i wish you the best SAAB !!!

"The merger between Daimler and Chrysler..." was an abortion, can't we forget that ever happened? Is it me or does American car companies seem to almost ruin every European car they touch? Chrysler and Diamler-Benz, Ford and Jaguar/Land Rover/Aston Martin, GM and Saab? and then after these companies break off, they seem to do as good as they did before. it shuld b a law that American car companies need to keep aweigh frm Europe. ANYWEIGH, Im glad Saab is going bck to Swedan where it belongs. culd this mean no more Trailblazers and more 3 door/5 door Saabs? XD
