You can restore anything but only if you can find or remake the parts. No doubt it could be done but the cost may be prohibitive.

I wish it can be repaired but I guess its quite expensive...but wait if he could afford to buy it he can repair it ...lol

this is going to be nearly as expensive as buying another car. BUT there would be one McLaren more...

not sure actually, but i mean if they guy can afford to buy an F1 then im sure he can pay for full restoration lol. although as said above only 64 road ready ones durring that time period have be produced so parts could be hard to find or limited.

If you could save an endangered species that you really cared about (and, er, owned) for whatever sum of money, wouldn't you?

After seeing what this As**ho** did to their beauty, i bet Mclaren 'Officials' are yanking his chain! Ofcourse it can be re-stored, lets hope we get to hear & see what is the final outcome of this story.

He didn't do that to the car himself. I'm sure he never would have bought that particular example if he had known it was going to spontaneously combust.

Considering the state that Rowan Atkinson's car was restored from, this will be a walk in the park for McLaren.

The car is insured for $2 million that means if the insurance was to declare a total loss, the owner would get $2 million settlement. In the insurance company's eyes, it's still a better deal to pay, example- $1.6 million dollar and restore the car, than to pay the guy a full $2 million. That's a $400,000 difference..

why are you callin the guy an a$$hole like its his fault the car caught on fire??? you're a fool.

if the car's chassy was damaged, it will be hard to restore. the F1 uses a carbon fiber inner structure, bonded with a special adhisve, replacing a damaged part will compromise the stractaral integrity.
Thats my openion

Omg, they can seriously repair the damage? If they can, they must be REALLY good fixers!
June 9, 2009 5:22 pm
Ofcourse its his fault. Anyone who owns such a ride & moth balls it for 6 months deserves what happened. Thats y i called him an a** hole. Wickedated, are you related to him that your getting so flustered???
June 9, 2009 5:28 pm
Yeah, you wouldn't be nuts to take an F1 out in the middle of winter or anything. And god forbid that you should go out of town or work abroad for six months.
I think it's obvious who the arse is in this situation.

relax Vlad, it just a car, no need for calling anyone a**hole here.
and it's not your car so what's your problem?
June 9, 2009 8:50 pm
I'd want a replacement. You'll - most likely - not get it back to its original state with a refurb.

We have car roast for dinner ... lol
staff, serving up ... which is the first to eat this car? I off ...
