Carmelo Ezpeleta could be the figure FOTA turns to if the major formula one teams decide to quit formula one at the end of the year, according to the Spanish sports newspaper Diario AS.

He is the CEO of Madrid based Dorna Sports, the commercial rights holder of F1's two-wheeled equivalent MotoGP.

Dorna was bought by CVC, F1's current owner, in 1998 but is now controlled by its management.

It has been credited with transferring the rule-making power of the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) to the GP Manufacturers Association (MSMA).

The newspaper said FOTA has already had contact with Ezpeleta, who would be reportedly willing to take command of a breakaway.

Great Stuff! I've been waiting for that to happen for a long time! A new series would be the best solution to the row. We'll see which series will have more appeal to Advertisers, Sponsors, Drivers, Teams and which series will attract the most Audience! MOTO FOTA GP or FIA F1

Sport should belong to the teams not the organiser ... good on them I hope it takes off!

What about a crossover between F1 and MotoGP?... i.e. both F1 cars and MotoGP motorcycles competing on the same race: car vs. bike/Jenson Button vs. Valentino Rossi... that would be awesome and I'd definitely pay money to see it :-) Obrigado.

Haha, if that was to happen, there would be more crashes than in Touring car races. But it will be fun to watch!

This keeps getting more interesting. Ducati vs Ferrari vs Brawn vs FiatYamaha. The best drivers and Riders: Valentino Rossi, Lewis Hamilton, Casey Stoner, Fernando Alonso, Hayden, Button, Lorenzo, Sebastian Vettel,Felippe Massa all on the same track at the same time. I wonder what it'd look like, a Ferrari F60 and a Ducati Desmosedici fighting to take the inside line on a turn, not to mention the starting Grid. This might just be the best racing series, but what will it be called? Formula MOTO GP? Very interesting!!! Hope Bernie and Max eat their hearts out, Heh heh heh!
