Looks very nice, but Er... that is quite a high price tag for a semi-hot hacth.

Good one. Also good thet it hasn't got the red grille, so you can see it's not a GTI

Ugly fabric... And it's a diesel, so obsolete now that the TSI can do equal or better pollution/perf ratio.

"Performance is said to rival" but doesn't quite match the GTI! 40hp less, 1s more too 100km/h all that for just 1000 Euros more!

Love the car! But for $41,000 (USA 6-speed manual with 4 doors), that is a bit salty. However, no one (not Audi, BMW, nor Mercedes) offers a sporting diesel with a manual transmission. I do believe I may be very willing to get such a hot diesel sport. Nice! I agree with Prowler97 - "WAKE UP, VWoA!"

Woah those are just converted prices for reference, this car would be much cheaper for the NA market. The GTI starts at 23k US, FULLY loaded it comes to 32,736$, even if the GTD is 2000$ more it's still under 35k fully loaded. If i had to guess it would be 25-35k. Which is pretty decent i guess.

but in netherlands it costs 32 thousand ,somthing something euro's
it is steep though.Even though they put out so much power frm the engoine does it sound like a tractor when it turns on??? will the sound come in to the cabin say at a stop light????

Great fuel economy and emission levels but let's face it, 8.1 secs is poo if you're into performance. I'd not see many opting for this at all.

vwoa will be bringing this car stateside. you have to keep in mind that you cannot do a direct conversion on exchange rates with cars. a lot of times the numbers are subsidized to fit a market. also consider that vat is often incorped in the pricing which we don't do.
as to concerns about noise and performance don't speak on it until you have actually driven a new diesel from any of germany's big 3...it makes cars like the prius and insight look like a joke
