Convincing BMW M7 Spy Photos Caught for First Time?

BMW M7 Prototype Caught with minimal disguise

After a couple of near-misses WCF can finally reveal the first spy pictures of the upcoming BMW M7... or whatever BMW decides to call it. Looking like the sportiest non-Alpina 7 Series variant to date, telltale details include the power bulge on the bonnet similar to the one found on the M3, an aggressively styled pseudo M-style front bumper with gaping air intakes plus sport wheels with huge brakes just beneath. Since the camouflage is so minimal hopefully the car will not stay such a big secret for much longer.

If in fact the M7, it will represent the ultimate BMW super saloon. It will target cars like the Mercedes-Benz duo, the S63 AMG and the S65 AMG, as well as the upcoming Jaguar XJR. Currently the most powerful 7 Series in the lot is the twin turbo 760i which has a 6.0-litre V12 engine. Maximum power is rated at 400kW (544hp) and peak torque is 750Nm made between 1,500rpm and 5,000rpm.

The assumption is that the M7 will eclipse these figures but whether it goes beyond the 450kW (612hp) made by the S65 AMG remains to be officially confirmed. What we can say with a fair degree of confidence is that the M7 will become the most powerful mass series BMW car ever built and one of its quickest in the current range.

I wish that's true

Looks fierce! I still think all M models should have 4 exhaust pipes though...

And how come car manufacturers get to outright lie to us? What happened to "no comment" instead?

Looks great, but since the car is completely unchanged otherwise I think it's an engine prototype.

It looks to me like a 7 series M Sport, not an M7. I hope I'm wrong, I think an M7 is years overdue.

BMW is going nut with the M division .... X5M, X6M, and this M7 ( ? ).. all we need is an M3 CSL..lighter and more powerfull than the standar M3

Not convincing to me... It's missing the traditional M-spec "mouth" and side vents.

The bonnet buldge, imo, points to an ActiveHybrid version, much like the X6 ActiveHybrid which seems to have the tell-tale bonnet bludge.

If Merc has the AMG SLs, why wouldn't BMW put out an M7. It's completely logical.

This is NOT the M7... there is no M7 in the works. It is most likely the 7er Active Hybrid, hence the bulge in the bonnet.

people this is an M7, compare what u see here with other M cars:

there are no front spot lights in the lower part of the bumper, just like other M cars the buldge in the bonnet, all the M cars have this buldge.

I really hope BMW make this car!

Couldn't this just be the 760i?

Come on guys...this is just the new sport-package on the hybrid model (I think it´s not even the M-package). This car has no bigger brake-discs (where do you see this? They are not perforated), no M-mirrors, no M-exhaust (round pipes?), no M-side vents and no black roof interior !!! We will see it at the IAA at Sep.

I'm quite sick of the M division putting out all these M cars. M3 and M5, okay those were nice. Z4M was nice too. But X5M and X6M? 1 series with M-Sport pack? M7? WtF? Is that all REALLY necessary? You need super handling on the school run in your X5M do you? You need more power whilst being driven around in the M7 do you? Utterly useless.

The rear hasn't been touched so i don't think it's the M7

I believe what you're seeing is in fact the up-and-coming M7. You see, the market for hypo luxo barges is growing despite the past 18months economic activity. And so this niche market is about to receive another product - The BMW M7. Like it or loathe it, it's coming.

there will be no M7, this is M package!

To Blay: Why are you complaining, Look MB or Audi, Audi s3, RS3, S4, Rs4, S5 Rs5, S6 Rs6, S8, TTS, TTRS Mb: ml 63 Amg, G55 AMg, S63 AMG, S65 AMG, C63 AMg, E55 AMg, Sl63 AMg Sl 65 AMG, Cl 63 AMG, I thing they both have a lot of more AMG or S/rs cars than BMW have M cars

and i feel exactly the same way about audi and merc doing that. Whilst I agree that some cars SHOULD be merited with an M badge or RS badge or AMG/Black badge, cars like the G55, the x5, the x6, a8, 7 series etc most definitely should not. Performance badges slapped onto big 4wd or executive saloons are for posers not drivers. For people to one-up their friends who bought the ordinary version "I've got an x5 to take the kids to school." "I've got an x5M to take the kids to school." I mean lets face it, if you can afford something like an RS6 you can split your money between a pure performance car and an ordinary 4wd.

WCF needs to get rid of all the editors who have no idea what they are talking about.

I think it's probably a new Sports package for the 7 series, and probably a new hybird engine under the bonnet.

The vehicle itself doesn't look like it's sitting any lower, no quad pipes or side cosmatic on the mule, so I really doubt it would be a M7.

neat. now tats the way i want my 7 to look like. gotta love those wheels. the whole look reminds me of the e38 which is great. although i do agree abt why have an m7 when theres an equally satisfying 760. but if its gonna trump the s65 then bring it on munich. cheers

W/e it is, it is turbo. If it was the M7 it would be the 6L V12 Turboed with more power than the S65. We will have to wait and see.
