The first z4 was a roadster, the new one isn't, it's way too heavy and it has a metal roof. It's more like a gran tourer than a roadster

75 Years and how many Roadsters made?..
In 20 years Mazda have made 880,000, the true "lightweight" Roadster in the Guinness Book Of Records...the MX-5 or Miata....will give you more enjoyment than any of these over-rated, over-priced so called Roadsters from BMW.

I have to agree,but with one exception, the miata is su[erb at what it is ... only if your under six feet tall and skinny and have no desire to take a companion on a roadtrip. I have an slk and its great but in these cars, they are great for another person and maybe an opinion, LOL

75 years and they are still struggling to get it right. Pretty much everything BMW has produced in this category in recent years has been outclassed by its competitors. They may do sports saloons well, but I don't rate their sport car/roadster efforts. The Z4 only looks good because it has few competitors, but it's knocked into a top hat by the Boxster and even struggles against the SLK. I am not sure what there is to celebrate.
