I can vouch for the "taxi driver's ferrari" statement. I have two vehicles that I own as daily drivers. The first is a 40th anniversary Porsche 996 (911), and the second is a VW tiguan (petrol 200bhp TSi). I recently had to do a cargo run of some rather heavy audio equipment, a 480 km round trip. I hired a 2.5 TDi VW Multivan from Budget, loaded it to breaking point, and set off. What an amazing vehicle. Really. It absolutely opened my eyes, to something I thought would have been a bit of a dog to drive. Although it is shaped like a brick, it goes!
