who's dumb idea is this to ditch the clk badge for e-class coupe? what's wrong by calling it c-class coupe or c-class cabrio? or CE (like the W124) would be a better bet and certainly better than an e-class coupe. clearly the people who buys these cars are paying e-class money for a c-class!!

the e-class is a comfortable cruiser yet is completely different character than the more dynamic sportier c-class. they missed their chance.. they could have build a sporty brand image of the c-class like what bmw did with their 3-series coupe did with their entry level 320d saloons.

Mercedes-Benz does not follow the positioning strategy of BMW. They are 2 different types of car companies. The C-Class is a sporty entry level car. The E-Class is the most successful model in Mercedes-Benz' line up. That's why it makes sense to expand the E-Class variants.

I thought they were going to give it a hard top coupe... like the e92 cabrio...

I thought there will be both variants, soft and hard top to choose from.

Do they thing that the coupe outsells the estate? Not a chance! In the netherlands the estate version of about every car sells better than even the sedan version
