 LEAKED: BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo
BMW 5-series Gran Turismo Leaked Official Image

First official images of production ready version

The first official press images showing BMW's production ready 5-series Gran Turismo have surfaced giving us our best look yet at the exterior and interior styling.

This model seen here is apparently the GT 530d variant. And with BMW's 3.0 liter diesel engine coming with a husky but supple 245 hp (and 520 Nm of torque), that seems just right for a Gran Turismo of this size, doesn't it?

Features unique to this 5-series GT is the hatch/trunk, where the rear trunk space can be accessed by either popping the entire hatch, or just a small trap door.

One the inside the cabin design is looking more conventional, production-ready, than in the concept seen before. But the interior styling still seems very distinct and particular to the Gran Turismo ideal.

Seeing the car on the road like that, recalls the X6 SUV/Coupe. With this 5-series GT being somewhat of a less bulky, less SUV-ish, little brother to it.

No news yet on the big-ticket technology items such as whether the 5-series GT will come with the new 8-speed automatic gearbox first seen on the 760i or the rear-wheel steering introduced in the latest 7-series.

Speculation is that a GT 530d of this kind will be selling for about 60,000 euros.

I'm sry but this car is pointless to me like the R - class from MB. It's not the looks - although the back really is it's weakest point (hatch 5er - come on). I do like the interior - the ambient lights look very nice just like in the new E-class. And if you look at the picture of the rear space interior - what's up with the doors they have so much creasing around them that it looks like they are about to fall off. The price is also a little steep I think. We shall see how will this sell, the X6 isn't a complete failure so maybe this will be a winner.

I agree. From the B pillar forward it's classic BMW 5 Series, but it seems from the B pillar back, the designer may have lost the will to live. What is up with those rear lights? Interior is faultless though, driver orientated and looks pretty damn comfortable. It might be a little ungainly from the outside but hey, I see X6's everywhere I go, so maybe this will find the same success as the X6. Who knows? Maybe it'll look better in the metal and will walk out of showrooms

Is BMW holding a test to see just how ugly their cars can get before people stop buying them. I mean c'mon guys that GT is among the ugliest of all time. I suggest they name it the BMW Aztec

She's no looker. However, BMW is known for its avant-garde designs and I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty of these GTS in the near future. I still don't think it's pretty. Then again, no one liked the 7 series went it first came out...

the only ugly thing about it is it's rear. How much would this car weigh more than a the new 5 series touring? I hope not as much as a jaguar xf

It's ugly just like most post-Bangle BMWs, but these hatchback cars are a big hit in Europe, where families usually only have one car. It may not be a hit in the US market, but it'll sell well in Germany for sure.

I don't know where you get that information. Large hatches have never sold. It's only Vectra/Mondeo class cars where hatched work. Any bigger than that and its saloons or estates (and some 4x4s).

Im a BMW enthusiast, and if the M5 is supposed to take cues from this (the front most probably) then it will not be as aggressive as it needs to be...

This looks uber ugly, but because there are rich nubs out there that dunno how to use cash properly, they are going to buy it anyway because of that badge on the hood.

The Aztec finally got facelifted after GM's restructure. Interior seems improved a bit from the Pontiac though.

The interior is nice, the rest is a disaster. It actually makes the X6 look lovely (maybe that was it's point)
