Citroën's road towards becoming a player in the premium segment seems to be coming along nicely. For one example the compact DS line models appear to be sweet, inside and out. For another the GTbyCITROËN supercar concept is said to be going into production.

The GTbyCITROËN was first unpacked as a full scale model at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. Soon it will be going on a sight-seeing road trip to a few motoring events. The first will be the 24 Hours Nürburgring race on May 23rd. There it will take a lap of honour and the spectators will be able to get up close and personal with it at the stand of Citroën partner Polyphony from May 20th.

Then on June 12th it will be in the company of other (real) supercars in the "Grande Parade des Pilotes" at the Le Mans 24 Hours. It will be taking part in a presentation by the 150 drivers who are part of the 50 teams that take part in the race.

Last but not least attendees of the Goodwood Festival of Speed (3 - 5 July) in the UK will get to see the GTbyCITROËN.

The featured concept had LED lights, 21-inch wheels, wide wheel arches and gullwing doors. Rumours are that it will get V8 power from either Ford or General Motors.

This car looks like something from a Ridge Racer game. I won't be suprised if it has weapons hidden in it to make all the cars at the 'Ring disappear.

Kinda of. In the GT-R they just get the Interior Multimeter gauge done by PD, its not made or powered by playstation. In this case, this car was styled by GTs development firms boss Kazunori Yamauchi. He also styled Amuses S2000GT1 as well as the Amuse 350Z aeropackage which both are highly function pieces design to generate downforce. He's got skills.

Not only weapons but also rocket launchers, but how can a concept car, when its not into production knows that car will go for 24 hrs race?

"There it will take a lap of honour and the spectators will be able to get up close and personal"

The car will NOT run in the N24 race, it just will be shown to the public.

This creature is well designed, original, weird and unorthodox, the very epitome of French auto design.
