My guess is Lincoln is readying this car as an alternative to V8 shoppers and they'll be touting its power vs. economy numbers. However, that really won't work out at a $48k base price in my opinion.
As nice as the car looks and as great as its' packaging may seem it will still be compared to the 300c SRT8, Genesis V8 and lower end BMW and Mercedes models. If they wanted to be truly competitive they should have managed a price in the lower 40's base, with Nav and other options landing it between the $45k-$48k range. As it stands now the MKS will be above $50k with a couple of options. Do they have the clout for that?
It is nice, though. I hope it works out for Lincoln.

Hope for their sakes that rebates come quickly. That's a really steep price range for something based on the old Volvo S80 platform (not even the new platform). I side with MAB on this, they should have started this version in the $43-43k range, not $47.7k
Is it me or do the fuel numbers on the ECO Boost not make a whole lot of sense? Compared to the Yamaha V8 in the S80, this powertrain is only a couple of mpg better. I thought the point of these turbo platforms was to get the performance of more displacement/ cylinders whiel giving more significant mileage. It would have impressed me more if Ford could have managed this output while getting more like 18/26-27

Compared to the Yamaha, the EcoBoost makes considerably more tq for a longer period of time. I wondered the same thing at first.

rickyb, what Ford did here is make an engine that can offer more power and deliver better fuel economy compared to other cars in its class (MKS is a full-size AWD car with a powerful engine that produces 355hp and 350 ft-lb of torque).
PS: The MKS is larger and heavier than Volvo S80.

I was really excited when I first saw the concept images for this car years ago. Seemed like something really fresh and progressive for Lincoln. Now that this car is out, I am totally unimpressed. It's not too terrible in pictures, but it really does not impress me in person, and is even worse inside. My goodness, for almost $50,000, there are no end of more desirable alternatives IMHO. I'm definitely not anti-American with cars, but this model is just so mediocre to me. I'd take a Caddy CTS over this. Oh well.

For some reason i had thought it was based on the new 626 platform, silly me.

I'm still waiting for them to stick this engine and a sophisticated rear suspension to the Mustang.

how much does the engine cranks without the TTTTUURBBBBOOOOOOOSSSS..... 210 hp?
nice interior, i guess..

Without the Twin-Trubos and direct injection, the 3.5 liter V6 makes 263hp.

FWD V6 with weak styling and a name plate that has been greatly devalued just isn't going fetch $37,760 much less ten grand more.

the headlight looks like Honda Accord Euro and the taillight looks like Maserati Quattroporte. the engine output seems very very good :)

Don't you get more power and a larger cabin space in the new Ford Taurus SHO? AWD too?

Great performance, but would you pay $1000 per month for this vehicle? The body is outdated and too conservitive even for us mercedes benz guys.

don't worry, this car won't be around for long...it'll became a "collectible" item! 'coz it'll be discontinue maybe...2 or even after this model cycle. bound to be a failure products. for example, from escort to focus, from tempo to contour to fusion, from taurus to 500 then back to taurus...they never make a "right" one. they're always behind the competitions. like, vw golf, is golf after all these years with evolution of generations. civic/ corolla/ accord/ camry is civic/ corolla/ accord/ camry after all these years but keep getting better. can't you see now? that's why even american lost their confident in big 3 products!

CNET rated this one of the top five best tech cars, and they are biased against American cars being their based out San Fransisco. Very impressed at the NY Auto Show.

I don't understand how they messure fueleconomie in america, 24 mpg on the highway. Do they drive on the highway in thirth gear or what!? Cars like this can do 24 MPG or 10L/100km AVERAGE in europa. It's more like 33 MPG / 7L/100km on the highway.

Looks like an older Camry to me. Ho-hum, no flair, nothing original. Ooooo! push button start. Fancy. That's worth 50k.
Like hata0101 said...it's doomed.
And whats "Eco" about the boost? My 10 year old Audi A4 (granted, not as much HP) still gets over 32mpg on the freeway and over 28mpg average!

Ecoboost is a joke, sorry but this car has hideous MPG, compared to BMW 335/535d.
They may be diesels but they have more performance/torque and can justify their eco tag compared to this, even the M3 has better Eco figures then this.
This is just a marketing scam to attract gullable people that can then claim they have an ECo car, for this money get the Tesla when it comes out it has looks, performance & green tech.

17mpg city, 24mpg highway is not that bad for large AWD car with a gasoline/petrol engine that produces 355hp.
