What you see here may or may not be part of the rear end of the next-generation Audi A3. The image is quite blurred so details are sketchy at best. What can be seen distinctly though are the four Audi rings, some Q5-like design cues and LEDs on the tail lamp. Of course the A3 wording on the registration plate tells us what car it is.

The next A3 should hit European showroom floors in 2010 since the current model has been in the market for six years now. Body styles will include a three-door hatch, a five-door Sportback, a cabriolet and a rumoured sedan for the US market which will be sold as a 2012 model.

The engines speculated to be in the lineup include the recently announced 1.2 TSI making 75kW (105hp), the 1.4 TSI producing 104kW (141hp) as well as a 1.8 TSI with 127kW (173hp). There will also be turbo diesels just as in the current model which will be topped by a rumoured 152kW (207hp) 2.0-litre TDI.

Sitting atop the pile for the first time will be an RS 3 model which has been spied during testing exercises. That car should run the same 250kW (340hp) 2.5-litre turbo found in the new TT RS. Mated with all these engines will be choice between a 6-speed manual or a new 7-speed DSG double-clutch transmission.

I agree. Looks pretty real. Although i hope its not, the way in which the bottom of the boot relates to the bumper looks very.. awkward. It just looks like the boot has been cut from the car not integrated.

it feels like it will be again a good competitor but the design of the rear gate is a bit strange if we look at the edges. and also it feels like the bottom part of the lights are missing. maybe we will face a seat leon type of styling. a3 is always a reliable car at least it feels reliable while driving

Well at least it looks more interesting than the current model so far. I won't be suprised if it has more LED's than a Xmas tree at a city centre.

Interesting in that the taillamps seem to be completely on the tailgate, as on the Q7. But this design feature is what necessitates the ugly extra set of full taillamps in the Q7's bumper (since one could theoretically drive with the tailgate open when carrying a long item). This shot shows no such extra taillamps in the bumper, which would be required by law. So, real or real good Photoshop? Dunno!

should this be the hatchback, or the avant/sportback, it looks like many audi's, it looks better than about every of its competitors

machida: a lot of car have taillights that were not design to allow driving with tailgate opened...

Overall, I'm more concerned by the bad rear vision it will have.

Really? I can't think of one. Sure, a lot of cars have part of the lamps on the tailgate but the brake and turn signals are always at least partly on the body. Only car I can recall with the brake lamps on the trunklid was the R-R Silver Spur, but who drives that around with the lawnmower hanging out of the trunk. :)

It's Fake! On ALL Audi's with rear wipers, they are on the right side and not on the Left as pictured. This is Hans aka Pretender's work... dumping more garbage on the net claiming it's real!

audi can still use the same existing photos for their cars in 2050 and no one can tell any difference.... well.. if the brand can last that long...
