Top Gear Crew & Stig Spotted in UAE with Lambo SV, Veyron, SLR 722, McLaren F1
Looks like another epic season
Loyal WCF reader Ahmed Almuhairi managed to capture the Top Gear crew in the United Arab Emirates with a host of high powered supercars.
While little is known about the upcoming segment, it appears Top Gear will compare the Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 and Lamborghini SV LP670-4 to the old McLaren F1. Almuhairi also stated that police closed a 3km (1.86 mile) section of a local roadway, which in addition to the presence of the Stig, suggests that the segment will feature an epic race or comparisson between the four vehicles.
As we reported earlier, Top Gear's budget was reduced this season so it's nice to see the gang out and about.

Oh yeah, looks like the Credit crunch still hasn't affected TV's best motoring shows!

I love top gear! Just a pety that the target audience is only british! BBC should show their programs in internet outside UK.

Can anyone in here explain to me why this Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce is so special. I am familer with Lambos in general just not this SperVeloce model.

Never Mind Found the info i needed - Lamborghini has overseen the return of an old name for the brand, SuperVeloce or SV. Last seen in the 1995 Diablo the SV badge now adorns the Murci?lago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce. The SuperVeloce is a vehicle made for speed and high performance judging from details supplied by Lamborghini. After shedding a whopping 100kg (220 lbs) through extensive use of carbon fiber and other light materials, the car should perform to very high standards on and off the track

The Lambo Muercielago SV is a special edition. More light weight components to reduce weight (like carbon fiber) more power to increase top speed and acceleration. All in all a special package of this flying bull.

oops, i saw your previous comment asking for the SV (Slideways240) and i gave my answer, The page refreshed when i posted and your new post was in. No repetition intended.

All 3 are great cars. but we know the F1 is going to by far the fastest and then Clarkson is going to start whining about how rough the handling is, how he doesn't like the steering and the usual glop.
I love Clarkson, thats why i know what he's going to say at the end of it in advance.

i'm happy to see them again! i'm sure it's gonna be an epic season as always!
hey, the white stig is still there! i thought he would be replaced after his identity might have been revealed..though i don't really care about that...
that SLR722 is just gorgeous!!

F1 the fastest? Did you know that Veyron is faster from 0-200mph than a McLaren F1 from 120-200mph?
May 11, 2009 7:57 pm
I meant all around really. Stig driving the F1 around a track will blow away a Veyron. In a straight drag race, both cars will be quite close and given the F1 uses a smaller engine, less cylinders and 4 less turbos, not to mention it being 14 years old
...obviously the truly faster car is the F1. Sure Veyron is VERY stable at speed however we're talking all around fast here, not how stable each car is.
Like i said, Clarkson WON'T pick the F1 as the winner regardless how much better overall it is.

Are you quoting Clarkson? Bugatti Veyron 0-200 mph: 24s; McLaren F1 0-100 mph: 6.2s; 0-200 mph: 28s; Thus, 100-200 mph: 21.8s and 120-200 mph: less than 21.8s

Hahah, has anyone realised the tune playing in this vid is the Autocar theme (from autocar.co.uk videos). Ironic. That's an awesome lineup of cars, the second best I've seen on TG yet - IMHO the Enzo, Zonda, CarreraGT vs XJ220, McLaren F1, F40 was a better mix. More relevant. Only the actual episode will tell though.
zdenda20, I share your concern. I was so gutted to not see 3 Veyrons on the telly. Although when that shoot was spied, none of the 3 presenters was present - only the stig. Let's hope this makes it to the show then.
As for who I think will win - if this is a competition - among these cars here...
Straight line: 1.Veyron (987bhp, come on) 2.F1 (but only just) 3.722 (because it's got some C/Fibre) 4.SV(heavy, heavy beast)
Circuit: 1.F1 (because it's raw and light)2.SV (because it's not as fat as a veyron) 3.Veyron (because it's fat) 4.722(because it's a merc)
And yes, Clarkson will whine about the McLaren.
And they should have probably replaced the 722 with a Koenigsegg CCXR (1018bhp biofuel), if you ask me.
Either way, can't wait.
