Barrichello threatens to quit F1 over team orders
Rubens Barrichello at Spanish grand prix 2009

The 'team orders' saga has hotted up even more, with Rubens Barrichello threatening to quit Brawn GP if he is again the victim of team orders.

After the Spanish grand prix, the Brazilian veteran played down any comparison between the situation in Barcelona and his six years as Michael Schumacher's number two at Ferrari.

But with Ross Brawn the common denominator, a frustrated Barrichello, 36, clearly suspected that the switching of race-strategies penalised him while favouring his championship-leading teammate, Jenson Button.

"If I get the slightest sniff that the team are favouring Jenson, I'll hang up my helmet tomorrow," he declared to the American broadcaster Speed TV.

"I need to find out what happened. I'm sure everything is ok," he added.

Team bosses Nick Fry, and Brawn himself, denied that Button is being favoured.

"Nope, no. Absolutely not," Brawn, who was involved in the infamous team orders scandal involving Barrichello at Austria in 2002, said after Sunday's race.

"I hope Rubens doesn't think that, because we are not (favouring Button).

"I think you saw at the first corner that there are no team orders," said the Briton, referring to how Barrichello had been free to challenge Button for the lead of the race.

I don't believe there were team orders. I think Button adopted a different strategy and it caught Rubens on the hop, fair and square.

I hope it's not team orders, I felt for Rubens yesterday. You could definitely tell he wasn't happy at the press conference. It would have been nice to see him 1st on the podium, even though I'm a brit and I like Jenson doing well I want it done fairly. I know this is all part of F1 however you have to feel for Rubens if he is in the same situation as he was with Ferrari.

Lol, saying redneck like its supposed to be an insult. Redneck is derived from hard working country men who work all day under the sun and get RED necks. So ya, i guess red necks are hardworking more respectable people than many folks that post here ;) For the record im greek and born in Canada, by no means a "red neck".

Well the name might mean that, but rednecks, especially those who vote for bush aren't very much respected anywhere, and yes its considered an insult by many progressive and forward thinking Americans.

Nahh Cemi. A redneck is only synonymous with a fool to the prejuidice. Otherwise a redneck is just a hardworker, and a Fool...is just that, a Fool regardless where he comes from or works.

I must say that it is rather sad to see Barrichello always being the second one, whichever team he is in..

Honestly, im just glad to see Barrichello on the podium, even when he was with Ferrari, i liked the mans drive. Very skilled guy and i hope button isn't favored. Barris age and his performance this season should grant him no axe of team orders.

Unfortunately Rubens had either a bad set of tyres or felt the car was not as driveable between the second and third stops. Otherwise it would have been a lot closer. He also couldn't match Jenson on the prime tyres. Well done to Mark Webber, finaly getting one over Vettel.

Its enough Barrichelo. No more excuses. It was your choice to stay at Ferrari despite of what was happening. Stop blaming Button for a great strategy and drive. What about all the previous races where you were completely dominated by Button. Sorry that putting the blame on Schumacher story isn't going to work here. You have your chance in a front running car, stop crying.

"If I get the slightest sniff that the team are favouring Jenson, I'll hang up my helmet tomorrow," he declared to the American broadcaster Speed TV. "I need to find out what happened. I'm sure everything is ok," he added.(Barrichello) As the article and Barri say, he is pretty sure there's nothing going on in terms of team orders and is sure Button just drove faster. HOWEVER, hye's just saying if the same crap goes now that went on in the past, he's gone...not out of bad blood but just because he doesn't find limited racing interesting, i'ld wager.

Personally I feel everyone in F1 needs to quit bitching. Let your driving do the talking.
