Chrome underbody?? New one on me. And light alloy wheels for this mammoth? Shaving a few hundred grams off something weighing in at 3 tons seems a little academic to me, really. Still, always thought this was a handsome car, even moreso now.

It says "chrome underbody protection," not the whole underbody, but it more accurately would just say "skidplates" in the front and rear bumpers. You can see them in the first two photos. And while it does weigh over 2.5 tons, it is lighter than the competing US-built full-size SUVs and offers a more comfortable 3rd row. And there is a diesel, even in the US. Not my choice in vehicles but as a large and extremely safe 7-seat SUV it's hard to beat...as long as you go with the diesel.

the gl ..makes little sense in europe....i mean come on ...its perfect for the states , russia too ..but in europe!!! its a complete waste of space

I was iffy about it before, but now i really like it. it looks so much better, of those fog lights look like theyre off some kind of kit. I wuld buy one. just hope the gl550 dsnt have that giant grill
