I'm guessing James may would say "Great news! The Dacia Sandero is now a soft roader too!"
Well not really Great news for me. I mean, it just looks kinda boring here. Oh well, that is a soft-roader trend I guess.

it's been on sale as the renault sandero stepway in brazil for almost a year now. not exactly a leak, i suppose.

Don't be overly critical. The car isn't terribly new but the badge is, and the move was unexpected as everyone thought the Duster Concept was going to be the first Dacia SUV, like Renegade said above. Since, no official details have been released yet, I would certainly call this a leak. And a significantly newsworthy story for our eastern European readers.

This is nothing else but a Sandero with bumpers and a high ground clearance. I have doubts that we shall see another SUV based on Dacia Duster. The Alliance has already Nissan Qashqai and Renault Koleos. Anyway, being a low cost car, could have good sales, as Dacia has these days.

It's true, this is not related to the previously announced Dacia SUV. This is just a cross-over of the Sandero, following a common trend in it's class set by the VW Cross-Polo, Skoda Fabia Scout or Rover Streetwise. Hopefully Renault will keep their promise and deliver a low cost Dacia branded SUV based on the Qashqai...

No news here. As mentioned, this car has been on sale in South America for a year. I've even sat in one. And it isn't news that this is the first SUV-type car from the brand rather than the Duster because, as stated, this has been around for a year whereas the Duster concept debuted at Geneva, some time after the Stepway was being marketed.

You guys are missing the point! Yes, the vehicle has been around for a year as a Renault, but not a Dacia. This is big news for those who follow the Dacia brand. You'd be surprised how loyal they are, particularly eastern Europe where the brand originates.
Let me give an example. Hypothetically speaking - the Scirocco is released wearing an Audi badge, and you say, "No news here - car has been around for a year." You don't think Audi or even VW enthusiasts are going to care? Of course they will.
Don't let your biases get in the way. :D
