A car chase being filmed in New York's Times Square went horribly wrong when a stunt driver in a Ferrari F430 lost control and skidded onto a sidewalk filled with pedestrians.

Two people received minor injuries as a result of the freak accident. One individual was struck by a falling electrical pole while the other was smacked by the rear quarter panel of the F430 as it crashed into a Sbarro's restaurant. The car itself only appeared to have moderate front end damage and the stunt driver walked away unscathed.

The chase was being filmed for an upcoming Disney movie called "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" which stars Nicolas Cage. While little is known about movie, its plot seems to revolve around sorcerer Balthazar Blake's (Cage) attempt to find an apprentice in New York City.

So the "pedestrians" must be extras, right? They wouldn't perform a car chase on an open set.

This is what happens when an italian supercar meets a fake italian restaurant: it is inevitably attracted to destroy it.

Poor Ferrari. Looking at the state of it, I don't think that is going to buff out.

Next time, get a 4wd supercar (e.g. Gallardo/R8) or just do it when it isn't wet.

Boycott disney - not worried about the kids, more the adults :)

Does that car's ABS is off? when the stability control is turned off disables also the abs? i see the whells locking and no intervention of the ESP. I know that some race drivers usually disable ABS.

That is some very bad publicity for Ferrari. He wasnt even going that fast and lost control, maybe the fact that NY streets are so uneven and bumpy had something to do with it.

The fake italian rest. joke is funny

Why go to so much trouble for a Nicolas Cage movie anyway?
