2010 Mercedes S63 AMG & S65 AMG Promotional Footage Released

Updated styling, new innovations

Mercedes has released a new promotional video that shows the updated 2010 S63 AMG and S65 AMG in action.

The refreshed cars feature a variety of minor exterior styling tweaks such as a more prominent grille, a new front bumper with air intake-mounted LED daytime running lights, a redesigned rear bumper with an integrated diffuser, and new LED taillights. Interior updates are also modest but include a redesigned center console with wood trim and a new steering wheel.

Power for the S63 comes from a naturally aspirated V8 engine that develops 386 kW (525 hp) and 630 Nm of torque, this allows the sedan to run from 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The S65 on the other hand comes equipped with a massive 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine that produces a 450 kW (612 hp) and 1000 Nm of torque. Despite the huge power difference, the S65 AMG is only 0.2 seconds faster to 100 km/h because of the car's inability to effectively get all its power to the ground. The S65's massive power rating also has other disadvantages as it forces the car to use a five-speed SPEEDSHIFT automatic transmission instead of the S63's more modern seven-speed SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission.

The super-sedans also come equipped with the latest technological innovations such as a sports suspension with crosswind stabilization, a Torque Vectoring Brake system for improved handling, an Attention Assist drowsiness detection system, Night View Assist with pedestrian detection, and optional Speed Limit Assist.

Fairly good car, but the only reason why I like the car is for the V12 engine sound. I would say looks, but seeing the normal version alot of times would make it seem boring in a while.

you know what guys ...and dear mercedes people, i really dont see the point of two S class amg super saloons.. luxury crap. one is a 6208 cmc developing 525 bhp, and the other a 6000 cmc with 2 turbos and 612 bhp. (dont know why they call it 65).. wcf should make a poll: what do you prefer; the s63 amg or s65 amg? in terms of taxes and logic...wisdom and all of that sh.t, i would take the s65; even if those 2 turbos would ruin me with the mileage. am i mistaking or the S class has two AMGs and all the other mercedes` has only one AMG? (im curious in the price of these two amg`s)

The point of this car know's only the potentional buyer of S-amg or owner .What about engine the number 62 already taken by Maybach,S65 because the twin turbo makes engine somewhere on 0.5 more and it has turned out on half of litre more so vuala S65.I'm not the fan of this car,but it deserve reputation

BTW, did anyone check that the Panamera Turbo does 0-100 in 3.8 secs? That?s unbelievable for a nearly 2t sedan or coupe or whatever it is :D

That's a baller's car right there. Don't even bother comparing it to the Panamera. Rich soccer moms will drive that, just like the Cayenne. S65 for the win baby. in black, with tints.

In comments made in a related article elsewhere, I talked about AMG's S65 "soldiering on" with 612bhp. I hope the Engineers take it up and add at least another "20-25bhp". Otherwise a fine video. Oh.... I want one please! isaacu

even the 65 is 0.2 sec faser than a 63 from 0-60 but the way it flat out is really impressive! it can reach 300km very fast if you remove the limitor

honestly, this looks like an awesome car, really! However, what I HATE about America are the speed limits. These cars are definitely made for Germany and the autobahn where there are no speed restrictions. Then it makes sense. But that much power is useless in America. Stupid policemen!
