AVUS Performance Shows Audi RS6 WHITE POWER - They must be joking

Avus Performance RS6 *White Power*

Horrible German to English translation or a cheap ploy to get media attention?

Avus Performance has unveiled the new "WHITE POWER" Audi RS6, which is undoubtedly one of the most offensive automotive products ever conceived. While we cannot be certain whether this is a horrible German to English translation or a cheap ploy to get media attention, it seems dubious that a company - a German company no less - would actually use the term White Power as a product name.

The car is essentially an Audi RS6 equipped with Sportec's RS700 kit which includes a new high performance exhaust system, racing catalysts and retuned engine electronics. These improvements create major performance gains as the RS6 boasts 700 bhp and 800 Nm (590 lb/ft) of torque. This enables the White Power to run from 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).

Other features of the awfully named Avus include 22" Sportec Mono 10 wheels, lowering springs which reduce the ride height by 40 mm (1.6"), and an optional carbon fiber front-lip spoiler.

[UPDATE] AVUS Performance has issued a press release announcing the use of the "White Power" title is a mistranslation:

Dear visitors, readers and customers,

We are very sorry and unfortunate for what has actually happened and is currently happening to our first press report. Due to a mistranslation of our latest project car - the Audi RS6 V10 biturbo - there were lots of radical right-wing rumors on all different blogs and pages that received our first press report. We distance ourselves from the project title - it was done by our press agency which obviously mistranslated our German project name into English. Furthermore we distance ourselves from anything that has to do with that group synonym and we would also like to say sorry if anyone got personally touched.

Deepest Regards

The AVUS PERFORMANCE Team

Thanks to Carscoop for the update.

Press Release (Click to expand)

Avus Performance - WHITE POWER Audi RS6

With its 580bhp and an impressive 650Nm ( 479.35 lb/ft) of torque the actual Audi RS6 is the perfect symbiosis of an estate and a super car.

For AVUS Performance, based in Berlin, that starting basis was not enough.

As the importer for Sportec products in Germany they equipped the RS6 with a new high performance exhaust system with a diameter of 70mm, racing catalysts and a new ECU software.

The maximum power increased up to 700bhp and an astonishing 800Nm (589.97 lb/ft ) of torque are now tearing all 4 wheels.

The results are 0-60 in 3.9s, 0-120 in 12.1s and the RS6 is electronically limited at 211.27mph to not overstress the tires of the V10 biturbo. To get the power to the ground at best Avus Performance mounted a set of 22" wheels in the classic Sportec Mono 10 design. Besides the better grip these have great impact to the overall look.

The already good standard factory suspension with electronic settings was only slightly modified with lowering springs which help to lower the car by 40mm. The handling improves noticeable and the car gets much more agile. On the other hand it fits perfectly to the complete look of the car and makes sense in combination with all the other options. Last but not least a carbon front-lip and a rear diffusor are also offered and are the icing on the cake.

So their press agency is sending our press releases without Avus first checking them? Lame...

What's the big deal. So is it now politically correct not to use names of colours in products. Just In case it offends. Come on Merc's Have a Black Edition.

They have always used "white power" brand suspension springs on ktm MX bikes , People are too fussy these days...

Yep, to fussy and way to pc, it's not like the car uses kkk turbos. It didn't even occur to me that "white power" could be a racial slur. Look at other car makers, these days it's so very common to use colors to describe trim levels or powertrain. VW Bluemotion, Saturn's Redline/Greenline, AMG Black Series, etc. Black series could be racist too but nobody's complaining.

The term "white power" has racist connotations, whereas "Black Series" and "Bluemotion" do not. "White power" is used by rascists and neo-Nazis as a doctrine in the advancement of the white race. That's why this car is badly named.

It's not being PC or childish. It's acknowledging that a term that has been hijacked by rascists in order to justify their actions probably ain't a great name for a car.

What about the Chevy's SS trims that are around from years, and If GM didn't was in such a deep sh!t we could have a model named just SS. Remember this? http://www.ssrfanatic.com/forum/attachments/f41/65191d1229733024-gm-heritage-cars-up-sale-ss-concept.jpeg

People are too sensitive over the silliest things. they are obviously not insinuating any type of racial slur and i can't believe how ridiculous it's become that people will see it this way. the fact that they have to come out with an apology just shows how stupid this world has become. i'm not saying to forget our past but, come on!!

Simply, now they have to come out with other colour options with 'Power' attached to it..... too much being made of this, infact did not even realise what this was about till i read the 'Avus' clarification... What about the car???? its mindblowing but useless!!!

It's white, it's got power....hence "white power". No harm, no foul.

Such a sick car. The only things that could make it better are smaller rims to make it a little bit smoother and a convertible top (I know it's ridiculous to have a convertible on this but imagine: you would never have to buy a car ever again: it would have everything!!!).

Ha yeah, the car that combines the traits of several cars in one. BMW might steal the idea, except everyone would then call it pointless and ugly, and I'm sure the name Bangle would be tossed around a bit.

Nice ride, though. I just hate how people have become so very petty and politically correct these days... blatant racism isn't good, but a name shouldn't cause this much of a problem. Look at the Holden and Chevy SS models.

Oh wow, that name sucked on so many levels. 'white power,' wtf?

At least the car itself is better than its tag.

so , what other words are forbidden to use with "white"? what about White Might, Strength, Force, etc , are those forbidden too ? :)

May 5, 2009 3:23 AM
So they basically buy a stock Audi RS6, then they take it to Sportec, and after it's properly tuned (not by AVUS) they just install different wheels and resell it? I never thought creating your own "tuning" company would be so easy

I liked the name White power. That's what the car looked like to me...So many haters out there? This is a car fans site, political rants should be left out. I felt this article demonstrated an undermining of AVUS' integrity. Ironically the NAZI's would have been proud of this article's subversive style of'journalism'. Grow up.
