BMW X5 M and X6 M Pricing Leaked

Undercuts the Mercedes ML63 AMG and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S

US pricing information for the upcoming 2010 X5 M and X6 M has leaked to the web ahead of an official announcement by BMW. According to the leaked document, the X5 M will start at $85,400 while X6 M will cost $88,900. While they are certainly expensive, both models manage to undercut key rivals such as the $90,100 Mercedes ML63 AMG and the $124,800 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S.

Both of BMW's new M models come equipped with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine which cranks out 555 hp (408kW) and 500 lb-ft (678Nm) of torque. Mated to a specially developed M Sports transmission - which offers Sport, M Manual, and full automatic modes - the new X M's are capable of running from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph. This is even more impressive when you consider the aforementioned ML63 AMG only produces 503 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque while the Cayenne fairs slightly better with 550 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.

Among the other items included on the new BMWs are an M tuned sports suspension, aggressive new bumpers, massive 20-inch wheels, and a high-performance braking system with 15.6-inch front and 15.2-inch rear brake rotors. Interior accommodations also receive a special sporting twist with the addition of front sports seats, Merino leather upholstery, a sports steering wheel, and plenty of M badging.

While the leaked information doesn't provide a thorough breakdown of the available packages and optional extras, it does seem to suggest that dealers will begin taking orders for the new M models late next month.

BMW X5 M AND X6 M U.S. PRICING ANNOUNCED

The latest models from BMW's M Division arrive in U.S. Dealers this Fall.

Woodcliff Lake, NJ - April 27, 2009... On the occasion of the world debut of the BMW X5 M at the Shanghai International Auto Show, BMW today announced U.S. retail pricing for both the X5 M and the X6 M. The X6 M was unveiled for the first time at the New York International Auto Show on April 8th. When the X5 M and X6 M go on sale this fall as 2010 model vehicles, they will retail for $86,225 and $89,725 respectively (including $825 Destination & Handling).

Both the BMW X5 M and X6 M feature a new reverse flow V8 engine with patented twin-turbo technology. The lag-eliminating Cylinder-bank Comprehensive Manifold (CCM) enables the engine to produce 555 horsepower and accelerate both models from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds. At BMW M, "the chassis must always be more powerful than the engine." The X5 M and X6 M exploit the limits of physics through their reworked Integrated Chassis Management systems to provide maximum road-holding without conceding to harsh ride characteristics.

Power is delivered through an M derivative of BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive, allowing M typical throttle-steering. At the rear axle is BMW's revolutionary Dynamic Performance Control, tailored by BMW M to ensure near-perfect distribution of power. Four M-characteristic tailpipes emerge from the aerodynamic diffuser in the rear. Enormous brakes round out the package, providing confidence under all conditions.

The modern, sustainable legacy of BMW M began in 1985 when engineers placed the snarling, race-bred inline-6 engine from the M1 supercar into the production BMW 5 Series sedan, reworked the suspension and brakes, and created BMW's first M5. The M5 redefined the capabilities of a sedan with levels of power, precision, and linear control never before imaginable. Ever since, the craftsmen at BMW M have been focused on finding new ways to expand the performance boundaries using existing BMW models as a basis.

For all the hardcore purists will complain about the auto transmission, the bmw sport-manual boxes are good...

ML63 look better. I just can't believe there is no fog lights on a $85K car, and the interior like entry model. Very disappointed.

you have to remember that the carbon fiber bits in the SAV may not look as good but they are more expensive and lighter. Also i have never sat in a better seat that the bmw sport and confort seats.

I drove my Cousin's ML63 to the extreme & it was amazing performance & exterior wise. but the interior was not up to the level. I hope these Xs deserve to wear the M badge & blow the ML63 & the Cayyene Turbo S away.
