The Aston Martin One-77 that was revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show was not chassis number 1 but was actually a technical illustration of the car. Soon after the show, work began to craft the very first complete example by hand. The Concorso d'Eleganza event that takes place between 24 and 26 April on the shores of Lake Como in Italy is the venue where this fully-built concept car will make its world debut.

Everything will be showcased; from the actual 7.3-litre V12 engine to the interior design with its handmade parts and what Aston calls "exotic materials". The company says it's their "money-no-object commitment to quality" that will make the One-77 stand out from the crowd.

CEO Dr Ulrich Bez said: "This is a major step in One-77's engineering programme, showing the first complete car, and will demonstrate new benchmarks in many different fields of automotive design."

Aston Martin is placing a lot of emphasis on how amazing this car will be, on how it will shift the boundaries between art and automotive design. It is really the culmination of AM's technological know-how, its craftsmanship and performance prowess.

Very few cars of any type that we can think of have had this much hype from their makers even before they were presented to the public. We hope the Aston Martin One-77 lives to match the ballyhoo.

Press Release (Click to expand)

Aston Martin has confirmed the first public display of the complete One-77 concept will be held at the world renowned Concorso d'Eleganza event in the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como, Italy on 24-26 April 2009.

The One-77 is Aston Martin's definitive sports car, one that epitomises everything Aston Martin from technology, hand-craftsmanship of the hand rolled aluminium panels to the attention to detail. A culmination of all the marque's know-how, the One-77 delivers effortless beauty guaranteed to stir the senses with performance potential eclipsing any previous Aston Martin. It's this extraordinary workmanship and money-no-object commitment to quality that makes the One-77 unique. It promises a driving experience of unrivalled intensity and excitement while representing the world's most desirable automotive art form.

The One-77 concept will be revealed in the perfect setting at Lake Como showcasing for the first time a complete concept; including full running powertrain and the world premiere of the eagerly anticipated interior design. The interior environment blends the stunning detail of the exterior and draws it inside with incredible meticulousness through the use of exotic materials and hand made parts detailing the quintessence of Aston Martin engineering and design expertise.

Last month Aston Martin showcased a technical illustration of the One-77 at the Geneva Auto Salon, revealing the technical intricacies and engineering excellence that will exist beneath the One-77's handmade body. Since then, the technical illustration has undergone painstaking handcraftsmanship to be developed into a complete car.

Aston Martin Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez said: "The One-77 demonstrates the unique capabilities of our company - it encompasses engineering excellence with a great passion from our engineers, designers and technical partners.
"This is a major step in One-77's engineering programme, showing the first complete car, and will demonstrate new benchmarks in many different fields of automotive design.

"The craftsmanship and design that has gone into the creation of the Aston Martin One-77 lifts automotive engineering into the realm of art. With its finely sculpted forms and sleek lines, it is an expression of unparalleled beauty that embodies everything Aston Martin stands for."

Very good looking car, But IMO the DBS looks better, and I can't get over it's price tag.

money-no-object commitment to quality" - really think this is a good idea, seeing the car don't have any real buyers yet, plus even though it has a few intersting ideas that can be taken over to newer models, this car is by far not Aston Martin.

Nice car, looks like it will be fast and handle amazingly judging by its structure in the front. But unless all the aluminum accents are made out of Palladium and the LEDs are made out of diamonds i can't see how this car is worth 1.8million..It doesn't look 2x nicer than a Veyron, and i'm sure its not even as fast. So what are you really getting for 1.8mil? This car should have been 600,000USD max.

The craftmanship looks amazing and I still hold true to my first impression that this is probably the best looking car I've ever seen. However, I've always been about performance before looks (not in women though. On second thought, oh nm). With that said, it's 7.3 V-12 and a hefty... excuse me... ridiculously high price tag are nothing short of an eyebrow raiser, but enough small talk, I want to see what it can do. The way Aston Martin is describing it, they're putting a lot on the line and I don't think they'd risk their reputation as such. I mean we're not talkin really expensive Bently/Royce here... I hope.

The front vents in the lights look amazing! Too bad they said that all of them are gone, this sorta lame marketing put AM way down in my books...looks hawt none the less! I would be happy with a DBS and maybe a House...yacht...and a private plane for that money:D

all the aston have been spoken for but no one has actually put a depoist down, so frankly they haven't sold one yet. But really this car aint worth $80 000 let alone 1 millon plus.

what does "....complete....concept...." mean? "Complete" should be completly finished production car and "Concept" should be a concept car.

Im fully aware no one iss going to agree with me on this but i PERSONALLY dont think it is as pretty as a DB9 or DBS and i would, to be honest, rather own one of them then the one-77

I totally agree with you that the DBS is by far the best looking Aston on the road. This is a disaster.

This is the most eccentric Aston Martin ever. This is like Lamborghini's Reventon, you're either going to love it immediately or shun it like leprosy. I personally love it. I think it looks spectacular and it's tremendously fast. One question though: is it going to be a GT or a full on 2-seat hypercar like the Enzo?

This is a work of art.

Exactly, which allows for an astronomical price tag. From an engineering standpoint, not viable to carry that price. Its all down to the badge and exclusivity.

Aston has put themselves in a position where the buyers of this car will be put off to find the next Vanquish stealing its technology.

Learn from Mercedes - SLR to Gullwing, where I can see Aston switching from DBs back to V-cars. (Virage, Vantage etc.)

The Veyron took a lifetime to develop, this? Just from a race car and beefed up auto transmission.

I love Astons, but i'm afraid, this is a rip-off

@Madaboutcars: The reason why I don't think it's a rip off I because you don't buy for the engineering. There's no denying that there is some great work under the hood, but I agree with you when You say that it's not worth that much. I think the price is too high in any case, but the sheer look of the car really makes it so desireable. It's like the Reventon. It's really nothing too different from the LP640, with a couple of modifications here and there. But it looks like the offspring of Batman's Tumbler and a F22 Raptor or whatever. Thus the equally eccentric price tag. I wouldn't even want it because of the exclusivity, I want it because it looks so good. There are definitely 77 people who will want it, and eventually it will sell out. But from a value standpoint, you're absolutely right.

They have to add this car in a production line, not only limited the production to 77! but at least reducing 1/4 of the price tag!

Have no worries, they will, it will be called Vanquish or something rather.

It's a beautiful car. The grill is a little overdone, and could use a little redesigning.

I'm hugely impressed by the technical engineering of this car and I'm in love with the style....but please..the grille looks like a terrible Zagato job. Please do something about that mess Aston. Think of it as Penelope Cruz. Pretty body, pert rear end, and then you get to her horrific nose.
