Our friends over at BMWBlog.com have managed to capture the first "real world" pictures of the upcoming 2010 BMW X5 M.

Unlike the press photos, which featured an unflattering blue exterior, the new pictures show a beautiful looking X5 M decked out in what appears to be Titanium Silver Metallic. While many of us still have our doubts about the need for an M branded crossover/SUV, there's no denying that the X5 M has curb appeal because of its aggressive front and rear bumpers as well as some attractive looking 20-inch alloy wheels.

Power comes from BMW's new 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 555 horsepower (408kW) and 500 lb-ft (678Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed M Sports Automatic transmission which features Sport and M Manual modes as well as a traditional full automatic mode for unparalleled flexibility. Thanks to the unique combination of an ingenious transmission and a monster of an engine, the all-wheel drive X5 M can dash from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph.

The X5 M's performance goodies don't just reside under the hood as the new model also boasts a M sports suspension with Adaptive Drive, Electronic Damping Control, and Active Roll Stabilization as well as a high-performance M braking system which comes with massive 15.6-inch front and 15.2-inch rear brake rotors.

That is one mean looking beast! Too bad the driver's parking skills represent BMW drivers.

Wow, I didnt know they had female test drivers. Just runnin' into Prada, sweetie?

Anyhow, I always wondered what an X5 would look like without the roof rails - and now that I do I wish they would have left them on. It just looks strange without them. Other than that its all hotness.

@araz, because it looks like a TT-RS bumper with those 2 huge side air dams.

Looks like a BEAST! It's very nice, but I'd rather opt for something else around the same price range. The X6 on the other hand is my preferred choice. I think it looks more unique and is HUGE.

Plug them ugly nostrils, before the hair starts coming out!!! Plus no fog lamps???

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 12:15 AM
do a bit more research bro,,,, the M5 doesn't have fog lights, the M6 doesn't, neither does the M3...

its an M (thing) and they have their own reasons,,,

Prince_Ash
April 23, 2009 8:38 PM
fog lamps would ruin it man, plus i find it looks nice as is, no need to change anything :)

"unflattering blue exterior"? If Estoril Blue has now become passe then I am in shock! It was the launch color on the then "X5 4.6iS". Still stands out from the crowd for me...

Oh my God, it's sooo ugly! They made it look Korean!

GTS Cayenne, ML63, even the regular X5 4.8 over this thing...

looks like it's got the rims off an old 3-series..

dbehmoaras
April 24, 2009 3:54 AM
That's because the Koreans made an exact rip off of a X5.

I can't see the point of having such a powerful SUV!All these power can give a very different emotions i a sports car! It's pointless to have all these power in a hude 4 by 4

I completely agree...I am all for "POWEEERRR!!" but this just loses any point...u will die paying for the gas, u will die because of the stiffness in the city and u will not pass an X5 on the highway...and no, it is not a track car. And no, u cant take it offroad...an SUV is a safe vehicle for many people into the city...u dont need 0-100 times to get from your house to the grocery store...

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 12:21 AM
Then this car is not made for you

People are so ignorant when they say this car (sucks), this car was made for an "elite" segment of the population which you are not in...

People who have this car won't go for grocery, they have people to do that for them...

and when it comes to gas, if you can afford this car then you can afford the gas

plus where I am (Saudi Arabia),, we can buy all kinds of cars and the gas costs US$0.11 per liter, thats like 40 cents per gallon

problem solved :)

Looks very nice, almost abit plain in silver, but personally I think that the rims look abit small.

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 12:13 AM
thats really nice,, since BMW already shown the car to the public, they can do some final testing because this is obviously a test car (judging by the covered BMW logos)

can't wait to see it myself..

Where do you get off muhaidib? There's nothing "elite" about a BMW X5. Even a tarted up M version like this waste of space, tacky and overdone. All chintz and no taste. Come to London and learn some manners!

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 6:34 AM
What do you look in a car made for the "elite" segment?

-Luxury

-Performance

-Bold Style

-Uniqueness

The X5 M has all of those, plus more...

A car in this segment has SUV's in many tiers...

Tier 1 (lowest) would include Jeep, Toyota, Tata, and similar trucks

Tier 2 (OK) would include Land Rover, X5 3.0, ML350, Cayenne V6, Lexus RX

Tier 3 (good) would have Range Rover Vouge, Cayenne S, Cayenne GTS, X5 4.8, Lexus LX

Those three types can be seen in any city that has a good standard of living, now, those cars can only be seen on rich parts of town and in luxurious towns

Tier 4 ("Elite"): ML63 AMG, Cayenne Turbo S, X5 M, X6 M, G55 AMG

Tier 5 (Super): Specially tuned, high-performance SUVs such as the GV12 Brabus, Gemballa Tornado, Cayenne TechArt, ML Brabus

This is just what I think, correct me if I'm wrong...

Sorry I just read the part about London, I stay at the Dorchester Hotel and I always go to Leicester Square, I have been there many time, and all of the cars that taught you your "manners" are from Dubai, Qatar, Saudi Arabia... All the Bugattis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Lamborghinis, the whole nine yards..

I come from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I know the people who drive those cars, and since I'm one of them, trust me, I know what I'm talking about...

wow, 500 lb-ft is almost e55 territory, only 16 lb-ft short

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 6:45 AM
It is a very powerful car, but the more "correct" comparison is to make it sit next to the ML63 and the Cayenne Turbo...

And forget about the E55,, did you see the new E63? its a beauty ;)

Great looking car with a nice front especially the lights and rear too...

Move over Cayenne Turbo S. The X5 M wants to overtake. And it will.

Minus the blue (it works on other BMWs, but not this), I love it. But I do have to say, the rims and the pipes are a bit small for such a large car. Easy enough to fix, though. =)

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 6:48 AM
I think the Blue is kindda nice,,, but again thats more a taste thing,,,

I have now an X5 4.8i (2007 - new look) ,, black on black with black rims,,,

and about the rims,, I think better looking rims will come out when it hits the dealers,, or at least a better "option",, BMW makes some of the best mags in the industry so I believe that the final version will look even better

such a big SUV with such speed becomes a dangerous weapon on the road.... i can't imagine driving such big monster in a SL55 speed...

Too bad there is this gap between the center of the hood and the front bumber, it ruins a design that could have been very nice.

They probably didn't want to develop a new longer bonnet lid just for the X5/X6 M (since the X5 M is using X6' bonnet, headlights, and front fenders), or/and for cooling reasons.

Lol, muhaidib.... Thanks for the theory lesson.... your so lucky that you get to burn gas at dirt cheap rates.... so then buy 2 of these & the Gemballa Tornado 750 GTS too, have a blast!

muhaidib
April 24, 2009 11:45 PM
haha,,,, yeah well the gas in Saudi Arabia is "home brewed" so thats why its so cheap

and the price is fixed, not variable like the rest of the world,,,

there are only two octane types over here,,,

we don't have 84, 87, or 89,,

91 octane (Super, at SAR 0.45, $US 0.12/liter) -45.42 U.S. cents per US gallon-

95 octane (Super, at SAR 0.60, $US 0.16/liter) -60.56 U.S. cents per US gallon-
