Looks like it might only be a name change, the E-class Coupe appears to be following the same CLK formula (Coupe with E-class styling on a C-class platform?) It says that the E-class Coupe is 46mm wider than the 1740mm (68.5in) wide CLK it replaces. That means the new E-Class coupe is only 1786mm (70.3in) wide, almost the same as the new C-class which is 1770mm (69.7in) wide. The new E-class sedan has an overall width of 1854mm (73 in). If the new E-class Coupe is really based on a shortened W212 E-class platform, I wonder why its 68mm (2.7in) narrower than the sedan? Almost the same width as the new C-class.

It's not based on the W212. The C207 is based on the W204 C-Class with a lot of W212 (new E-Class sedan) technology thrown in. And for the record, it's COMAND, not Command. Stands for COckpit Management And Data system. And Pre-Safe Brake is separate from the standard Pre-Safe system, since it requires the radar sensor used for Distronic.

"It's not based on the W212. The C207 is based on the W204 C-Class with a lot of W212 (new E-Class sedan) technology thrown in." Yes, just like the CLK it replaces. I guess Mercedes is just using the same old formula and decided to call the new CLK the E-class Coupe...

Pretty much... Oh, and by the way (re the article, not the comment), it certainly has B-pillars. The door locks are attached to them. They just do not extend higher than the window line.

machida, that's incorrect. It's called a lock pillar, and in this case it does not extend to the roof. Depending on who you talk to it could be either, but in my experience a pillarless quarterpanel does not constitute a B-pillar. Technically it's a C-pillar.

But theres something about it.It doesn't look as if it's going to beat anyone on the road. They looks plain man.n thtats not cool. The back of the car looks dull. I cant find a detail about the looks that puts a smile on my face.I can only say the body shape,n lines look nice.

This car looks good but only if they send it to the AMG Factory & tuned it, then it will look sexy.

Kudos to MB for reviving a classic, the E-class coupe, but it never lives up to the previous one. Just isnt a gentleman's car anymore, what MB used to be in the past. Very Japanese/Chinese in design and looks cheap. AMG might look meaner but loses the timeless design mercs had in the 80's and 90's and before.

I believe there is something wrong with a few contemporary Mercedes-Benz coupes (1st generation CLK, current CLS, and the new "E-Class" coupe), so, please, let us define what a genuine Mercedes-Benz "coupe" is by looking at Mercedes-Benz history. First and foremost, a true Mercedes-Benz coupe has no B-pillar, no matter what. That little, fixed window on the new "E-Class" coupe bothers me to no end. Is the convertible version going to have two pieces of glass sticking out of it with the top down?! If they need it there for structural or world-record aerodynamic purposes, then why not offer something stylish, perhaps something like the 1972-1981 SLC coupes' louvered rear window? Or, instead of an old-fashioned window, Engineering today could make the louvers move at the touch of a rear-seat passenger's button and Marketing could emphasize how this louvered structure anticipates a passenger's need to reduce wind buffeting while reminding us how the extra glass flap on the rear window of the 1963-1981 600 limousines quelled the same turbulence. That little thorn of a window on the new car bothers me as much as that ?bitch of a bearing wall? B-pillar and fixed (!) rear window on the first CLK. That first CLK and the new ?E-Class? coupe are studies in cost-cutting. Don't forget that the 1993 Geneva Coupe Studio (CLK prototype) was presented without B-pillars! Hey, some BMW 3-Series coupes feature a pivoting rear window, at least. Furthermore, the CLS sedan is marketed as a four-door "coupe," but are the designers unaware of the undeniable style of the 1958-1962 300d sedan as it sat with its frame-less doors, windows all rolled down, and removable rear quarter windows plucked? That open 300d sedan look is not just panoramic, it is positively defiant and dramatically cinematic. It really was "engineered like no other car in the world." I know side-airbags are important, but there has to be a more elegant solution than what these supposed coupes offer today. Isn't that what the Concept Ocean Drive promised?

This car look good, the price is good, what I can do is to bring it at home. I am fascinated of the new technologies they use and also by Lane Keeping Assist and Speed Limit Assist. Take a look on topspeed.com and you will find more others interesting things.
