Small cars? Looks like VW are heading 'up-wards.' Sorry for the lame joke. Always wanted to say it though.

VW knows what it takes to become the no1 automaker in the world.

Most small cars are ugly and boring.

Back in the real world when you have not much money and live in a village then these are ideal.

Back in the real world, and especially credit crunch ridden America, then cheap cars like these are also ideal...

Great news. I hope the cars will show the same level of innovation as the concept Up!

VW just hurry up and put the Up! into production. It is a cool little car.

"will initially be responsible for building new three-door and five-door models for Volkswagen, Seat, and Skoda" Please, VW, give us more than just badge engineering. Just a couple of tweaks on the front, like on the past Lupo/Arosa or Sharan/Alhambra are simply not enough!

Lupo is no more, Fox is expensive and has a bad choice of engines. It was about time for VW to penetrate the small vehicle market, especially during these times requiring small, cheap and low consumption vehicles. It is a little bit late, but better late than never. We shall see very low consumption cars powered by engines like 1.2 TDI CR and 1.0 or 1.2 TSI or even EVs. Probably VW will follow its usual policy and they will sell cars almost identical from the technological point of view but with different designs under different brands (VW/Seat/Skoda). So this way almost everyone will have where to choose from.

I like it. VW is joining the club where Renault Kangoo Be-Pop and Citroen Nemo is waiting for companions. Not worst way in atomotive culture at all. PS. And it looks really good too.
