Michael Schumacher is unable to drive a racing car or bike at present as he is still recovering from his crash at Spain's Cartagena circuit in February.
The seven time world champion was hospitalised by the fall, sustained while he tested for the a German Superbike team.
He was scheduled to race this weekend in the opening Lausitzring round of the championship, but has called it off, the German news agency DPA said.
"At the moment I can just about manage to ride a bicycle. When I have to move my neck quickly I am restricted. Maybe it is at my age that things heal more slowly now," the 40-year-old said.
Schumacher also said he will now be choosing the venues for his post-professional racing exploits more carefully.
"Cartagena was an example of driving too close to the limit on the wrong kind of track," he said.
