Welcome to the beta launch of WorldCarFans Social, one of the first auto enthusiasts content sites with fully integrated social networking features.
Back in December 2008 the positive response we received after adding an *edit* function to WCF comments system prompted a closer look into improving the overall WCF experience. A survey was launched asking about a free social networking community integrated into WCF. The response was overwhelmingly approved and two months later we are proud to present the beta launch.
WCF Social is available to all existing registered members as well as new sign-ups. In the top left corner of all WCF pages, you will see a login box. For existing members, there is no need to re-register. Your existing login will work. Once logged in, go to your virtual "Garage" to see your personal home page. Please fill in your profile and add a personal avatar.
Other available features within your home page or virtual “garage” include:
- comment alerts (via email)
- comment log
- WCF news feeds (coming soon - directly to your personal garage)
- wall
- friends list
- favorites (news stories)
- photo uploads (temporary limit is 20 photos)
Not only is WCF Social a significant enhancement of our comments system for streamlined participation, but it's a place where members can interact one-on-one. Members are encouraged to complete their profiles, make friends and comment on each other's garage “walls.” With a personal home page to manage all of your community activities, there is no need to keep returning to the article pages. On a story by story basis, you can subscribe and manage comment alerts that are delivered directly to your garage home page and via email.
In the near future additional features such as WCF Social for groups and businesses, free marketplace, video upload and comments for photos will be added. Beyond this, additional features will continually be added to make WCF Social more engaging and fun.
WCF is entering uncharted territories where content/social networking hybrid models are few and far between, and as always, we depend on your feedback to make sure we are on the right path. We must emphasize that WCF Social is in the beta test stage, so please make your comments in this topic to report any bugs, errors or difficulties you might encounter as well as suggestions to improve functionality. Add this topic to your Garage favorites by clicking the *star/plus* icon just above this text article or you can subscribe to receive comment alerts to your Garage. And if all else fails, you can email us at feedback[at]worldcarfans.com.
Thanks for your support. We hope you enjoy WCF Social!
