39,352.43 CAD or 31,740.13 USD for the three door not including the automatic package. most likely north america will get the car but in a slightly modified version due to the fact that us europeans love to mod the car before selling it to you guys. but im thinking most likely they will get the car in Q4 (oct - dec) or Q1 (jan - march).

Mod it before? In the past it got modded afterwards in the States... The whole issue of suspension on the GTI in the US was a screw-up: curb-height regulations meant it was jacked up on stilts. Got fixed a few years later though. It was designed and produced and sold - as intended - in the UK, Europe, Oz and here in South Africa without any 'mods'.

$20,000 CAD are what the '09's start at in Canada. Mind you, not in a diesel but the 5 block gas. Holy smokes car are expensive in Europe?!?!

This golf is particularly expensive.
The Golf GTi only costs about 500 GBP more...
..and for that you get those GTi alloy wheels!
GTD - not for me, sorry! I'd go GTi.

Although this is decent looking, I'm all in for the Full blown GTI version!
Wait, did you just say £22k for a Souped up diesel version? Oh God.... If they made a Diesel R20 (highly unlikely) That would cost more than an Audi R8!

Just me or does a Golf VI 'GTD' just sound plain wierd. Maybe I'm just so used to 'GTI' that my brain fills in the last letter and then I'm surprised it's not! This car really isn't a performer: ok nice ecomony and emissions but all this money for a 8.1 sec time? Even my MK5 GTI is getting slow @ 7.2 secs with new models rolling out from other marques. Have to see how this one does.

what a real beauty...nice clean lines and suttle design even though it's a GTD...wouldn't mind one myself :)
