It doesnt look like a chinese car from any angle...but why does it look so dated? Based on an older Passat?

So far as I know, the Passat Lingyu has always been under Shanghai VW, not FAW-VW. The same with the new Lingyu. Reports from the Chinese media: http://auto.sina.com.cn/2009/hall/sub_brands/passat/ http://auto.sina.com.cn/news/2009-04-20/1344483847.shtml

I'm sorry, but this looks really dated IMO. Even the passat before the current (Euro-spec model) looks more modern.

the Chinese will buy this car like we Americans buy the dated platforms for the Ford Focus, Taurus, Chrysler 300, etc... Price it cheap enough and they'll unload plenty.

Uh how could it be a B-Segment king? It would have be Polo sized to be B-Segment. More like D/E-Segment I think.

I wonder if this is the "American" Passat that VW will produce in the USA, for the USA.
