Will Raikonnen and Massa be prepared to wait a year to be competitive again? There's surely a seat going at Renault soon.

This makes no sense. We saw Mclaren improve there cars using their resource, I expect Ferrier to do the same. They are the most wining team in both driver and CONSTRUCTOR championship.

Losers! Giving up so easily... My already low impression of Ferrari will drop even more if it's true.

Lol, what a crock...they have 2 bad races so they think about quitting...Another shining example why i have distaste for Ferrari. Losers like Get_Real said.

I must say, if Ferrari "gives up trying" for this season, I will forever loose respect for them as a constructor, and as a team, regardless of them still being on the grid. That's very childish, and though the sport is a business, the likes of Ferrari are supposed to be dedicated to the sport for more than that. They have too much of a history together. It would be a real shame to see Ferrari write off the season, but at the same time I'd love to see them get a taste of reality, a slap in the face if you will, and finally realize that they can't just sit on the throne and watch.

i must say though thats what honda did last season, and there was no one complaining. obviously they dont have the history of ferrari but look at the car they developed for this season. Unlucky for them they dont have it anymore and its now brawns but that car is performing very well. If ferrari hadnt been such twats last season trying to get mclaren in trouble for a none spying incident then neither of the manufacturers wouldnt have had to follow the rules on this seasons cars to the letter, so the other one couldnt dob them in to the fia. The whole spying thing stopped development on the mclaren for months, ferrari could keep developing their car and its just karma its sh1t. They deserve everything the get, i cant believe the way the new ferrari boss behaved towards brawn at the malaysian grand prix either being so rude to him after everything he did for ferrari may be he's just jealous that the pit crew like him more or something.

i'm not a Ferrari fan, but i think they mean that they will focus on the 2010 car and leave the F60 with only little upgrades, there not gonna stop racing this year, Honda did the same last year, and they have now a good result!!!(yes, it's now BrawnGP, but it's thx too Honda that they are where they are)

I know that's what they mean. Doesn't make it any more excuseable!

You could wonder where the succes came from, I think its very clear that Ross Brawn is the man to have fore a F1 team

mc959: Nail, head, hit. Its not a bad move with all this diffuser nonsense. Personally think its a bit unfair that the teams using the new diffuser type get an advantage by stretching the rules and so I really don't care about Brawn's success. As a bitter Ferrari supporter, "We'll see next year".

Luca di Montezemolo should admit that letting go of the "dream team" was a HUGE mistake. Then he must fire Stefano Domenicali who said last year around this time that the team was working very hard on the 2009 car. Clearly not. The guy has failed to motivate Kimi and help him get off the booze. Lastly Schumacher needs to be appointed to a much stronger role, preferably Team Principal so he can sign Alonso and Vettel before it's too late.

I agree with thamzn! Ferrari's been misfiring since the beginning of last season! From an unreliable car, pit crew to inconsistent drivers, esp an indifferent Kimi. It seems the Iceman's head's always elsewhere maybe in WRC. There's no excuse for the nonsense that's happening! Ferrari has the resources, financial and esp human, with the presence of Schumacher. They need to give him a CLEAR, AUTHORITATIVE POSITION on the Pit wall instead of this unclear Consultant role! GET DEDICATED, CONSISTENT DRIVERS, i.e FERNANDO ALONSO and SEBASTIAN VETTEL. You can't keep talking about the Next Season, when you're not making any efforts to sort out the problem. I guarantee that this time next Season we'll be in the same mess we are in now, then what? Start talking about 2011? Ferrari should shape up NOW! SCHUMACHER - PIT WALL and STRATEGY + New Drivers Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel! = Driver's and Constructor's Title!

honda 'gave up' development last year citing 'fundamental flaws' in their package and leap-frogged to complete dominance this year after gaining 6 months development time over the opposition (not forgetting they had the biggest budget of any team for last season and it was spent mostly on their 09 car). i think that now teams have seen this strategy play out and be huge benefit, the issue will be mid-back teams considering a 'year on year off' scenario - happily having a quiet year then backing up with storming runs the next year. i think as much as anything, ferrari will stir the debate on what effort the spectators and fans demand from their teams. raik and massa both loved their f60 pre-season. the balance is excellent, tire wear reasonable, top speed great, only issue is mid-corner speed (which diffuser could fix) the real issue is that ferrari have their kers batteries stored on the floor and spread for weight distribution. batteries would have to be redesigned for the modified floor needed for the new diffuser. i'm pretty sure that from spain onwards, ferrari wont have kers anyway.

The F60 definitely needs work, i agree. The Diffuser Batteries and KERS in particular. The Drivers performance and attitude is also a major issue. Last Season Raikkonen was just making up the numbers on the Grid, he might do the same this season! Fernando and Renault didn't have a very competitive Car but look at the points they bagged at the end of the Season. Vettel and Toro Rosso didn't have an outstanding package either, but he demonstrated he can deliver. The Drivers are also an issue.ALONSO and VETTEL is the way to go!
