The Panamera is a car of almost five metres in length which is aimed at Porsche fans with extra space requirements but not at the sacrifice of performance.
too bad it sacrifices aesthetic performance. Rapide should be where its at.

TO see a full real life photo at last with people in you get the overall effect of how big this car is.

and every time you look at it more, you begin to realise how butt ugly this thing is

Looks fantastic!
The official photos don't do any justice at all to be honest. The real life photo looks great and I'd imagine the car will look even better in person.

Are you on crack? I adore Porsche, but I'm sorry, this thing is hideous :P

Dev- Leave the guy alone. It's his personal opinion. I don't like the way this car looks, but that's just what I think. If he likes it, that is fine for him. Simple as that.

The press photos make it look horrific, but in the unveiling pic it actually looks ok.

Thing with this is - what is it? It ain't sexy, it ain't too luxurious looking, it ain't too sporty looking...
It ain't the fastest or most powerful or most expensive saloon available....
For every possible characteristic there is a competitor which does it better

Its hard to be the best at everything, the one that wins the market and makes the $ is the one that is the best at combining everything together, and i think with the Panamera Porsche have just done that. The rapide won't sell half as much as this, will have Aston Martin's usual really bad depreciation, and reliability with some remaining Ford components. There is no competitor for the Panamera, it may not be the best at everything but it definitely is the best package.

I agree radmeister. The Panamera will have NO equal in the market place. Make no mistake, this will be a ground breaking car in very respect and I tell you that the look will grow on you after time, a hallmark of great design.

Oh god. that is just hideous. Almost as ugly as the Spyker-SUV. wtf Porsche!
April 20, 2009 8:59 am
erm just wondering... I know its a porsche... but if i wanted a 4 seater performance car.... isnt the GTR a better choice. I just don't get this. The rapide is at least a beauty to behold.... this... is just "plain" to put it neutrally. So exactly what is the point of it. What makes it better then an M5, M6, GTR, RS5, RS6, RS4 ?????
April 20, 2009 9:15 am
this is just so perfect... i wish i can own one.... it's better than perfect...
April 20, 2009 9:23 am
CLS63 AMG over this any time. at least it's way way better looking than this, more powerfull and even less expensive.

It's really funny how every single piece of information about this car is generating the same huge amount of reactions. With many based on nothing and it seems more a pissing contest to have the strongest or coolest way of slamming this car.
My favorite is things in the line of: 'you must be crazy if you choose this car over a Rapide'. Must be the dumbest remark ever especially because it is only based on exterior design. I have a pretty strong hunch which of the two will be the best to drive. Well, I like driving! So, without any hesitation I would pick the Panamera. If that's crazy, well heck, then I'm crazy.
But hey, please do keep me entertained with your pissing contest!

Seriously Porsche, just when I thought you couldn't make more of an epic fail that facelifting the Cayenne, you amaze me with this ugly Piece of s... Oh man...
April 20, 2009 3:10 pm
I think it's ridiculous to say that the design is successful simply because "it will grown on us over time."
That's such an easy out.
A successful design is one that the majority of people like. Not one that people have to get used to.
Furthermore, it's also ridiculous to claim that the public isn't entitled thinking that the design is ugly just because they haven't seen on in person. If a car looks ugly in photos, there's a good chance it's going to look ugly in person, too.
I can't wait until the Porsche fanboys start coming up with retaliating arguments after people start seeing them in real life, and still think they're butt-ugly.

You're wrong. A successful design in the upper echelon of the automobile world is a design that appeals to a specific class of buyers. In this case, the upper class. It needs to be unique because the upper class likes to be unique. It cannot appeal to everybody like other mass producing vehicles.

correct , a successful design is one that sells. rich people like this car , they will buy it , who cares about the peasants who say this car is ugly , they wont buy it anyway.
