Lol wtf no amg for E coupe thats stupid , anyway seen both on the car show and even the sedan e63 looks too mellow , I'd take old body any time over it , and cls is in a diff price range too and is a 4 door , so kind of stupid there , I think they should make the E coupe amg since people like mid size coupes

Funny, or not so funny, but I'd rather see an E-Coupe 63 than another CLS63. If the next generation CLS is anything like the first - well then, no thanks, its just not my cup of tea.
What surprises me, though, is that fact that MB has never before had any qualms about saturating their entire line-up with AMG versions; is it the dreaded 'pinch', or really an in-house competition for the same deomgraphic?

Interesting. If WCF is to be believed, then the next generation CLS will have an AMG varient, powered with a 4 litre twinturbo V8 with 544 bhp.
But, I think Mercedes is making a mistake here. An AMG powered E-class coupe should definately exist. Maybe not with 525 hp from the current 6.2 litre V8, but a slightly watered down version like that in the C63 AMG. I think Mercedes will regret this decision.

i think it's more interesting that WCF think the current E Coupe is based on the E Class and not the C Class. despite the fact that they basically share a wheelbase and interior fitments. jeez, their reporting really is going downhill...

How about the E63 convertible is it also dead too? I hope there's the possibility of it since CLS is not gonna come out as a convertible any time soon

this is disappointing, why not kill the CLS AMG instead ? at least there is still the Brabus or Carlsson option.

Who is this "Autocar source?". Sounds like a BS story to me and a lot of us seem to agree. Like they wouldn't have an AMG version... crap story.

Oh well, Merc had a nice round while it lasted. I guess I'm gonna see more M3's and RS5's on the streets.

If they're gonna cancel anything they should cancel the E63 sedan, not the coupe. The coupe would have been nuts. I don't even believe this story to be honest.

lol. read the line well again. no more CLKs, so no more SLK AMGs. i.e. yes there will be an e-coupe AMG and not a CLK AMG. am I correct?

You have all failed to realise that the new "E Class Coupe" still rests on C Class underpinning's; it is nothing more than a branding and stylistic move up the range.

If that's the case, it should apply to the standard cars too and not just the AMGs, right? See, when BMW makes new models, they make em different from their existing ones so as to not CANNIBALISE. I didn't think Merc would let this happen, that they'd just give us everything anyway, but alas. Way to shoot yourself in the leg Merc. IMHO, the E-class coupe is way hotter than the current CLS - maybe the next one will be better.

Well, that pretty much ends this model for me. For me, the only point of Mercedes is AMG; they're the only Mercs I'd consider buying. Back to BMW showroom I go...

absolutely. this is a Mercedes poly. a C class chassis with an E class styling and name. only mercedes is downgrading themselves and their customers that way.

Shame i really like the new e class coupe and a friend of mine as a clk 63 amg and he wanted to replce that with the new e coupe variant so he'll be even more disaapointed

Shame... this is an end of an era! highly modified CLK's (or E coupe if you wish) are the most interesting mercs to me... on the upside, the new E63 ir unbelievably hott!
