Take a DB9 front, insert 4 doors in the middle, and the AMV8 rear, and voila! You have a Rapide. Still looks fab though!

The more I see this car the less I like it. I just don't think it hangs together well. It looks like the sort of bodge jobs Aston used to do to convert Virages into saloons in the 80s.

nice, ill wait to see full pictures before casting my final decision but good it looks so much better than the panamera, god that things ugly in comparison to this.

This must make it stink real bad to be part of the committee that botched-up the PanAm-CanAm-Carrera-Quwaiti thingy from Porsche. Apparently, another committee came up with the Porsche sedan-coupe's name. Remember, hybrids are either sterile or produce undesirable offspring.

Wow Aston's are underpowered... 350kW and 600Nm from a 6.0 V12? That's positively weak! First thing that pops into my head is the BMW 760i engine -- admittedly twin turbo, but another 50kW and 150Nm just from the turbos, when they're not even keyed toward performance? Especially considering Astons are performance tuned instead of comfort/economy.

the 4-dr coupe is not about 0-60, but rather to have a status symbol to it with the ability to haul 4 people. It's about driving dynamics of a coupe, but with 2 more doors. No one is going to race in a PAINamera or Rapide, so powerwise, its more than anough. Yes, the Porsche PAINamera is a pain to look at....way to go AM for this Rapide!!

6.0L V12 and only 470HP?? I know it packs alot of torque but 470HP is still weak for such a heavy car.

Go ahead, all of you. Take the Rapide. I'll happily choose the Panamera. The only thing it clearly has on the Porsche is looks. That's personal and very little. I have a very strong hunch which one will be the best driver's car. And for me personally the looks of the Panamera are not really a sacrifice.
Just my 2 cents as a counterweight to this exagerated and blind bias towards the Rapide.

well this is a rapide thread... did u expect otherwise? lol this car is gorgeous! i love it... cant wait till im taking my kids to school in it! i reckon the panamera's competition will be the RS6 rather than the other decent looking four door coupes because of its astoundingly awkward proportions!

To be quite frank, I think both this and Panamera look wrong. ofcourse, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
In my humble opinion, the Mercedes CLS looks much more sleek and cooler than this or the Porsche.

The CLS is ugly. The back of the CLS looks a like someone who ate too much ice cream and all the stuff went straight to the trunk.

so the cls is ugly because of the rear only? a very narrow scope. i'll stick to two doors for now although the panamera is the current favorite because i just love the technology and thinking they adapted to it, aerodynamic undertray, a super economical yet powerful engine, lightweight materials. it is just brilliant. does not look good though

LOL, I don't really, but I like their designs. I'm actually quite a fan of the standard DB9, but I think Aston should have come up for some a bit morme original, instead of extending one of their current designs.
