the 500 truly deserved that award... i think that is such a style icon these days... it's contemporary, yet reminiscent of the past. awesome, inside and out.

too bad it will too expensive in brazil when it hits the dealerships next month. i mean, the cute design and the 100hp engine are really cool, but US$30-35k for a car this size? that is the price of a civic or a corolla... if only fiat could sell it in the US$20-25k range, then it would be priced similarly to the polo or the fiesta, just like in europe.

well, i don't think it's too expensive...with such distinctive design inside out, i think it deserve a little premium price advantage. it's like an arts, those "ordinary" Corolla, Civic, Polo or Fiesta can't compare, not on the same level...

I thought retro was out? Isn't that why the S-type was one of the prettiest cars back in '99, but now it's just a relic? Same with the XJ? I do not get automotive journalists. At all... If this thing wins this year, the Mini Cooper should have certainly taken one of the previous awards. It's a much more modern and attractive take on "retro" design than this thing.

This is a good looking car, but pretty girly any guy driving one would look gay...

Yeah, not a man's car but a great design nonetheless.

The 500 is more Aygo, Fox and Twingo (A-segment) sized than Yaris, Polo or Clio (B-Segment) sized, making the price premium even greater than it would initially appear.

Humanly normal choice. Could somebody take it seriously if that award would be given by average preference of car fanatics for some huge SUV or 5m long posh sedan.

I do love this car, in particular in Abarth guise. But since it was launched in mid 2007, it should have won either the 2008 award or no award.
