i still don't get why people compare those two cars. the ZR-1 has HOW much more horsepower than the GT-R? yet it only beats the GT-R around the ring by HOW many seconds?? nuff said. seriously... stop being 5 and open your eyes. two very different cars in power output. V6 vs. V8, 485 (approx) vs. 681 hp.... comon now haha

You can't drive the ZR1 on any slippery surface, carry more than one passenger, and with all of 638hp and lighter weight, it only barely bests the GT-R in acceleration. With carbon ceramic brakes, it only barely bests the much heavier GT-R with it's iron rotors. Again, much lighter weight, 335mm rear tires and it doesn't handle any better or get better gas mileage. The ZR1 is also much more expensive, and it doesn't even have a partition between the trunk and seats... for over $100K! In every aspect... yeah, right...

Yep it's the best, maybe a tie with the ZR1 would be more fair, but that's real life with winners and losers, not like the ZR1 it's a loser by any standards.

well is thier any thing eles out their..........no the zr1 dose not have the quality and dose not handel as well

WRONG!!! ZR1 went 'round the ring faster. And that's the ultimate testing ground for handling! personally, I think a tie is in order here.
April 9, 2009 10:40 pm
 mortz mortz
And so the ZR1 should be faster around the ring it has more hp and is lighter than the gt-r.

 dbehmoaras dbehmoaras
Well, it is faster. Look it up. But it is not lighter. Check your facts before posting, please: ZR-1:~3,350lbs; GT-R: 3,075lbs This battle will rage on for ages. I like the ZR-1 better because it looks and sounds so much better.

Um I think you need to check your facts. The GTR is a little over 3800lbs
April 10, 2009 3:51 am
 djuice djuice
Actually the GT-R is 3815lbs, or 1730kg.. Siginificantly heavier then the ZR-1's 3352lb, 1520 kg.
April 9, 2009 11:32 pm
 mortz mortz
On the nurburgring records, ZR1 620hp at 1519kg, Nissan gt-r 479hp at 1740kg. so dbehmoaras maybe you should take your own advice and get your facts right.

exactly, dbehmoaras you need to look up your numbers again the gtr is a lot heavier than the vette.

if we use your logic morty...why on earth should the ZR1 be in place because there are so many cars far 'faster'. this is about being the 'better' performance car and not the 'faster' or fastest for the price, the vote went to the GT-R and it is so clear why. honestly i would buy the Z06 because thats me, i will live up to its bad built quality, bone breaking rock hard suspension and painful aspects just for owning a 7 liter V8 car rather than a twin turbo v6 but thats about it. take away 'drag racing' and the GT-R beat the ZR1 into silly land in every single aspect.

If you read my posts properly i was just stating facts, i never mentioned anything biased about the ZR1 in fact i actually like it a lot but the gt-r takes my fancy as it has done since the first r32 gt-r, I'm intrigued with the technology and how it puts the power down, its cornering capabilities and in my mind humans are meant to progress and the gt-r represents a car into the future. And Aesthetics you don't know my logic because you got it all wrong.....

what are you saying the zr1 is better 0-60,or the same depending on the sorce, without launch control. better in the 1/4 mile, higher top speed, faster around the ring, pulls more g's on the skidpad. and better looking, but thats an opinion,so silly land noway......

to those ZR1 biased.... many cars are faster in the ring anyway

i think the only reason it won was because of the hype......

GTR shouldn't win. It's just a machine for going fast, not a car that you can have fun with
April 10, 2009 1:50 am
 Jamaicandude Jamaicandude
Last time i checked, going fast around a race track and mopping the floor with other cars that cost a lot more... sometimes more than twice as much is very, very fun. Hell, if you can't have fun driving a 480hp car that runs to 60 in under 4 seconds, pulls over a G in cornering and stops on a dime, you've got no business driving anything.

Congrats to Nissan. they proved what modern electronics combined with a good chassis can do. it's fast , practical , good value. i'm a 911 guy, the Nissan is not my thing, but it's a great car and i hope other manufacturers will take an example of the GT-R.

for its price, it gives you alot of bang. The subtle non-exotic design that says its a nissan rather than a ferrari wannabe. and the phenomenal performance that can be achieved with that much weight/burden is remarkable. but zr1 and carreras also deserve its place as a finalist, nevertheless

Kudos to Nissan. Must be an incredible car. All you blokes arguing over one vs the other when (a) you've probably never driven either, or (b) been driven by someone else in one.
