Mazda finally understood that a hot-hatch should look bonkers.

Overall I like it. I just wish they could have bumped up the power slightly. For a performance hatch right now in the U.S. I think Mazda is on top.

Ford Focus RS will eat this and the 135i alive if they will bring it.

The MSP and the FocusRS are virtually the same car... The 135i however, that car should be blown into space, never to be seen again!

I know it drives nice and the interiors are good, but what is with the gay swooping flare lines all over the place. Wierd.. looks to much like a Matrix now. Long live the GTI!! Also, no mention of drivetrain. I suppose it's a front driver again. That's a lot of power for 2 front wheels.

It's wrong to compare the 135i to a Mazdaspeed3 as they are in a totally different price range and category. It's like comparing apples and oranges...

And the Ford Focus RS shares the same C1 chassis as the Mazdaspeed3... The RS has a more powerfull engine and probably different chassis tuning, but it's basically the same car. This article is also about the US Spec Mazda, and the Focus Rs is not even sold in the US.

yes i do love german cars. the GTI has the finesse and the precision that this car lacks, some people might like the crudeness of this car, to every man his own. but for me anyways, that german engineering won't be bested by the japanese.

i love this new Mazda design language, with those big-laughing-mouth...looks great & aggressive. this Mazdaspeed 3 really nice, price right, good power, extra space for this hot hatch. power to the people!! great job, Mazda!

Sorry everyone, I hate to burst your bubble, but Mazda dropped the ball by not including AWD... If it were AWD, they could've had something to compete and beat the WRX! Still a great car, top of it's class. But that's relative. It's just not what it could be...

that's the reason why i think Mazda made a smart move for not make it an AWD hot hatch! with the same engine output + extra weight & cost of AWD, then this Mazdaspeed 3 will became bottom of the crowd against Evo X, STi! plus the price would be few grands more...lost another advantage there. now it's ALWAYS on the top of the game against Civic Si, GTI, Mini...etc. & all those FWD cheap speed.
