She's a beaut, Opel are after putting a big german fly in volkswagon's ointment...

I can't see anything "odd" about that nose at all. I think it's great in fact. It reminded me of a more successful implementation of what BMW was trying to do with the 6-series.
I like this car a lot. It would be the one to hope you get at Avis...

Me too.... When I first saw the picture. I could spot the 6-series headlights!

Hmmm I dont know what to say...
It has a bit of everything as always... a bit of Renault, Hyundai. I dunno never liked Opels they always smell like generic non offending design approach, not really into that..

well someone has to make more conservative cars to contrast the ones like Pug 308, or Cit C4. Not everyone wants an "offensive" design, some just want a stylish one.

I don't think the current Astra GTC looks conservative (not even close and that's the opinion of all auto jurnalists)... I consider conservative the Golf MK6 (well... the facelifted version of the MK5 cause that's what it is) compared to all the other producers in this class... and also I see nothing inovative about 308 (like the Golf, it's a 307 facelift)

well I didn't said anything about the MK3 Astra, I think this rather takes off where the MK2 have landed, which is OK IMO. I also didn't said the 308 is innovative, rather radically styled with it's huge nose. And well yes, the Golf is another example, yet looks somehow less inspired and upmarket IMO.

Opel has always been a frontier in many design aspects, we all gotta admit that.

no i dont think we can all agree that opel/vxl has lead in design, in fact i think we can all agree that ford has bee leading design over the past decade to fifteen years, although the current designs from vxl opel are rather impressive

Nice... a lot better than the Toyota Auris and will drive a lot better too!

These pics are fake. You can compare these front lamps inside with the spy photos car headlights. Different. Earlier some low resolution pics have been revealed about a red car. That was the real car, it's just fake.

You can see the different on the 12th pic in the Autobild gallery. Next to the Bi-Xenon headlights there is the corner light. It has got so different form than this one. The inner pole of the lamp is totally black.

It looks a bit pinched at the nose. That's probably because of the weak grille. The headlights are awesome but let down by said grille. They should've given it the one from the Insignia - big and bold.
Aside from that, I love it. Looks well better than the Golf, Megane or Focus.

It's definately one of the more attractive 'hatchbacks' on the market, and it's an improvement in terms of Opel's range/ lines of cars.
April 9, 2009 12:12 pm
The Opel design team got this one just about perfect ... all the elements blend nicely creating a high class overall appearance.
April 9, 2009 12:28 pm
It's nothing than a copy of Seat Leon.....shame...nothing inovative from Opel.....just a copy from Leon. They are use the formula Copy-Paste :))
April 9, 2009 12:34 pm
Hmm, how they will going to bring this in the US considering that Saturn it's axed, as a Buick?
April 9, 2009 12:40 pm
no, these are official photos/ there are two different lights, one with LED/xenon lights and these that you postet are without LED(cheaper)!
April 9, 2009 6:06 pm
Yes, there are two different lights. I sent a pic about the Xenon with LED and the other one is the simple halogen without LED. But this pic shows a different Xenon lamp and it is also with LEDs. And I think there aren't two kind of Xenon lamps.

because every other car website says "we received these first official pics of the new astra"
and they cant say official without them being official otherwise they get sued

Opel never copies anybody's design, the C pillar is the same of Corsa's which is almost the oldest in that segment today. The copiers are Kia and Hyundai as usual. Innovation ? Why do you not to have look at the dash!!!!!
