With the new E-Class just released with more bells and whistles than one can possibly master during those brief years of actual ownership, Mercedes had to be sure the upcoming 2010 S-Class would live up to its reputation as the ultimate full-sized luxury sedan.

Now, thanks to a leak and a scan from a loyal German reader, we have a sneak peek at the brochure for the facelifted S-Class and all that it entails. The litany of technology is there, from Splitview-screen entertainment system, to the parking management assistant with a rear-view camera, to other driver aid tools like Pre-Safe braking, Lane-Departure warning system, LED parking lights and Adaptive Beam Assist.

The lineup of engines also remains another long list, though, it seems, the S320 CDI and the S420 CDI have been axed. The S400 Bluehybrid version has already been announced which rates a pretty impressive 7.9 liters/100 km fuel economy. The S400 Bluehybrid features a 3.5 liter V6 engine with 279 hp and 385 Nm of torque developed with the help of a 20 hp electric motor.

The new S-Class is expected to arrive in dealer showrooms later this year.

Subtle changes but very tasteful. I see it as a perfecting of the model - and that AMG package looks deadly! Very nice.

Sorry, but the BMW 7 Series won exetrior and interior award, named world's most techno advanced car of 2009. Performnce, handling and economy wise, the daddy S is no where near. Want to talk sportiness, probably the worst of the A8 and 7

The front and the bonnet to looks like an Infiniti.

I like it, i think that it is a good improvement. Plus they are changes that you can acutally see. I especially like the new rear bumper and lights

I disagree! Where are the new tech's? Same car, new bumpers and some lights, that's all!

looks very confident, very muscular yet elegant. not as cool as the A8 , but a Benz must be a bit flashy.

I also agree, the 7 is miles ahead of this old S. Theres nothing that the S is superior. Performance, Design, Luxury, Economy, handling, techno??? Cannot imagine why people woul want to choose this over the new 7 except for some blind loyal oldies

The 7 series is not as safe a car as the S-Class, and it is so overly complicated and bland on the inside. The damn seat controls alone are enough to give you a headache while driving down the road.

And if you think the 7-Series is a fresher design than the S-Class you are high on glue.

Very beautiful. Seems like Mercedes is going to add the LEDs from the new E-Class to other classes as well.

that is true !! there are a lot better quality photos there, check out the Mercedes-Benz.de ! There is also one without the LEDs on the bumper and with dual fog lights instead. BTW. The splitview looks cool! The S400 Hybrid starts from 85.323,00 Euro

i liked the w221 but i alweighs thought it was just a bit to round, and now, this facelift makes it look amazing. amazing how such little changes can make a car look so much better, wheres the coupe?

That colour is terrible! and as always, facelift is like no facelift, still as ugly nd smuged at the front. And what were they thinking to still keep that ugly stale interior? That interior cannot even compete with the new 7's interior. More like the 3 Series/ 5 Series type of class. all in ll, disappointing if this was meant to compete againt the new BMW 7 Series

if looks could kill, then that car should be in jail. now thats a cheesy line, but these subtle yet elegant alterations to the exterior are anything but.

good for them. way better than the stale 7 series

Yeah! facelifts are all they're good at. they can't even make the simplest rain and light sensors right. Mine ('06 E280) wipes after the rain has stopped, and turns on the headlights in broad daylight. Some people asked me why I turned on my headlights in the daytime, and my answer was, part of the Merc design was "To SHowOFF" hahah!!

JustDriving

They're only good at making those facelifts and then, what else?? The sad truth is even if the Merc makes cars that doesn't run like a car or drives like a truck, people will still buy it because its a Merc.
